This review is from: DARK AGE WARRIORS (Toy)
This box has 40 models (they are not Toys!) in 8 sprues of 5 models, enough to make a large unit of human warriors for a game like Warhammer Fantasy Battle or for an entire "Saga" faction. Made by Renedra for Gripping Beast this is a quality hard plastic product in 28mm scale. Parts can be clipped or cut with a craft knife as the bodies, heads, weapons and shields all need to be assembled. You will need plastic glue or superglue. Comes with a set of square bases in a variety of 20mm multiple sizings. Each sprue has 5 bodies with two legs and a left arm in a shield bearing pose if you need to attach one of those! On each sprue there are 7 right arms with spears in various poses, 5 shields, 7 heads (1 covered), 3 slings, 1 horn, 1 sword, 1 hand axe.
The models all come with covered legs, so if you want bare feet and bare legs you need to look elsewhere (good luck!) They seem suitable for a range of forces; Saxons, Danes, Vikings possibly Scots and Welsh. No bare chests though and no cloaks and of course - no armour! The addition of some bows would have given this another star!
The bases come as 16 of 20mm x 20mm, 2 of 100mm x 20mm, 2 of 60mm x 20mm, 2 of 40mm x 20mm, 2 of 40mm x 40mm. (44 figures can be accomodated on all these but you only get 40).

A flexible product that could be converted for a variety of wargame uses.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Quatermass!, 1 Nov 2013
This review is from: The Stone Tape [DVD] [1972] (DVD)
Overrated. I could forgive a lot in terms of production value and acting if the story was good. Unfortuntely it is bland, boring and left me with a "so what" feeling at the end. Disappointing story. What a waste of an overly long drama slot and some decent actors. Sorry, but if you were expecting something more like "Quatermass and the Pit" it just doesn't compare. I expect this is why I couldn't recall anything about it from when i was a young viewer. Only the truly frightening sticks in the mind. Spend your money elsewhere or borrow a copy.

A massive book that covers all aspects of wargaming. A true compendium. Thoughtful comments from an experienced gamer and editor. It won't stay on your bookshelf till you have read it through. Well worth the RRP and a steal at the Amazon price. It took 4 years to create and is worth it through and through. Henry's enthusiasm grabs and entertains. A 6 star book. Suitable for the interested to the veteran in my opinion. Featherstone plus! It even has rules for horse and musket, gladiator combat and a website to back it up for the downloads. Hundreds of colour photos as well. Brilliant.
