Dead easy to fit, but out of the box the card didn't work and needed updated drivers downloading. However, to be fair, there is a polite warning to do so in the installation instructions.
The card may work without connecting the additional Molex plug to a free power socket, but I wanted to drive external USB-powered backup disk (one of the main uses of USB3).
Is an excellent way to add USB3 to an older PC. I coupled this card with an Anker 3.5 inch front-panel USB 3 hub and the combination works brilliantly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fan., 2 Jun. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent fan: slightly expensive but worthwhile. Several different connectors supplied. The 'rubber' case attachments can be awkward to fit unless you have easy access to all sides of the fan but it is worth persevering: long-nose pliers are needed to pull them through the fan's mounting holes. I have had ten Noctuas of various sizes and will continue to buy them.
Note that this particular model is for motherboards which can not only measure the fan speed but also control it. Noctua do other models for three-wire 'speed measurement only'

Good value, 2TB, powered by the USB port, supports USB 3. Just works - what more could you want?
I ignored the pre-installed trial offer of backup software: based on previous WD purchases, I assume this is cut-down Acronis TI, but I already have full Acronis TI...
And the backup time difference in going from USB2 to USB3 is huge (several hours = > 30 minutes is typical)

Once Your Enemy
Once Your Enemy
by Heinrich Hauser
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding book, 26 April 2013
This review is from: Once Your Enemy (Hardcover)
This is an outstanding book. Hauser is better known for his accounts of the last large commercial sailing ship Pamir, but Once Your Enemy is his early autobiography and contains a matchless account of growing up through and after WW1 in inflation-ridden Germany. Hauser was a middle-class doctor's son whose life was a struggle between his right-wing upbringing, fighting (literally) against the red revolutionaries and alienation from the working class, with working with them in one of the toughest manual jobs - as a labourer in the blast furnaces at a Krupp steel-mill in the Ruhr and as a sailor, with a growing hatred of capitalism and finally support for national socialism and yearning for a strong leader. Irrespective of how his political views veered, he remained however always a German patriot. But it is not a political narrative per se: his account of trying to keep head above water when `often one sat in dress clothes at a bar; often one served in a white jacket behind it' when inflation was astronomical is incomparable.
The writing is by turns sensitive, evocative and sometimes elegiacal, especially right at the end when he visits post-war Verdun.
It is exceptionally well written, and the translation by Norman Gullick into 'dateless' English is as good as it gets. Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ecellent value, 24 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Worked out of the box - no adjustments needed.
Colours are fine without being over saturated.
No pixel 'pinholes' visible.
I installed it in DVI mode so cannot comment on analogue (VGA connector) performance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nokia 6300 replacement housing, 14 Aug. 2011
Shipped promptly, reasonable quality and easy to install (slide a credit card round the edge to unsnap the case from the black 'inner'). Only snag is that the screen seems to be scratch prone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Used at Lacock Abbey!, 15 Jun. 2011
For any visitors to the cloisters at Lacock Abbey who wonder what the exceptionally appropriate music is which plays distantly and almost ethereally in the background, this is it.
(Why the National Trust don't sell the CD there is beyond me: I was told that I was the second person that day to ask - and they has only been open for an hour!.)

This is not a concert-quality performance but sounds more authentic - and is all the better for it.

INFINITE PRIME wire free TEMPERATURE WARNING
INFINITE PRIME wire free TEMPERATURE WARNING

5.0 out of 5 stars Electronics Line 'frost-stat', 16 Jan. 2011
These do exactly what they say on the tin: send a wireless alert to an Electronics Line 3000 Infinite Prime alarm system when the ambient temperature hits 4 degC and going down. They are standard EL sensors with a thermostat inside.
What is odd is that they do not appear on ESP EL (the UK distributor's) website nor on the websites of most dealers.
Anyone with an Infinite Prime system can be alerted when the temperature around their loft pipes is near freezing. (My system goes further and uses the EL Home Automation module to then send an X10 signal to a Marmitek X10 switch near my central heating thermostat. This switch triggers a relay which overrides the thermostat when the temperature of my loft pipes falls dangerously low.)

Life on the English Manor: A Study of Peasant Conditions 1150-1400 (Cambridge Studies in Medieval Life and Thought: Fourth Series)

5.0 out of 5 stars Superbly written, easy to read and deceptively scholarly, 17 Aug. 2009
Simply the best non-specialist book on what it was like to live under the feudal system. And it is more scholarly than many specialist books: much of the information is culled from the author's own voluminous reading of the original sources.
Bennett completely avoids the temptation to overawe us with his own erudition and scholarship (he occasionally assumes that the reader can construe short passages of Latin and French, but this would have been a reasonable assumption at the time the book was written).
And he writes with wit, clarity and elegance.
It is my favourite history book of any type.
Very highly recommended!
