Great item for leisure/keen cyclists, 4 Jun. 2014
I chose this unit after looking at the range of edge products, for the cyclist with a keen sense of competition the edge 800 would be a better unit, but for everybody else I would recommend this unit. From the box you have to plug it in and charge it, this also initiates a software and map update which does take quite a while so don't expect to get out straightaway riding with it.The setup after that is very easy, but you will need your weight in kg to put into the unit for the very rough calorie count that it does.
using the unit is very straight forward and the round trip routing utility which was the main reason for me buying this unit is really useful and gives different routes on all the times I've used it, the one downside is that on a couple of occasions it has tried to take me down tracks that are unsuitabe for a road bike. Following the routes is easy as it warns you with a bleep of a direction change and puts the map screen up, and after the turn goes back to the screen you were on previosly. You can also make your own routes on the garmin connect website and download it to the unit or use ones that are already on there. This unit will also download directly to the strava website when connected to the computer.
The battery life has been great and I would think that it would easily give you a ride of 9 hours with no problems, it finds the satellite signal very quickly and holds it even under quite thick tree coverage, I bought some screen protectors with the unit which I think are a must to save scratching the screen with dirty fingers. The unit also came with 2 mounts which are easy to attach and the unit is very secure once snapped on.
Overall a very good unit for the price .
