Logitech Z5500 Digital PC Multimedia Home Theatre Speaker System - 505 Watt (Total)
Logitech Z5500 Digital PC Multimedia Home Theatre Speaker System - 505 Watt (Total)

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 Years still no problems, 27 May 2016
Bought these dirt cheap at £100 from a buy/sell shop and no doubt ripped both the seller and the shop off!!!

Regardless of these speakers being 12 years old now I can not fault them I set the system speakers up with all the default cabling and replaced the 6 Channel wires with a single SPDIF which connects directly to my motherboards SPDIF on the 990X chipset.

Not a single problem with the speakers as I immediately ran a windows speaker test to make sure all speakers functioned then selected all the bit rates up to and including 96Khz 24Bit.

I run it on Dolby Pro Logic II Music constantly through my digital connection in diagnostic mode so I know when I am listening to a true Dolby 5.1 or PCM 2.0 stereo up-mixed to 5.1 thanks to the Pro Logic II Mode.

These speakers are outstanding in competition even 12 years down the line I don't hear of a system better (maybe because they are THX certified) the satellite speakers must point directly at you for the full crisp effect since they are directional speakers (noticeable by the pointed speaker edge) and the bass is absolutely amazing with plenty boom feel free to set it accordingly via the control pod (halfway recommended but full for all out)

For the price without going crazy into thousands of pounds worth of audio this is still a top contender and most likely still the best desktop speakers to date. For the optimal sound quality a THX certified movie while using a digital connection will blow you away making sure you have proper placement of your speakers! (Also if you don't own a mansion then this system is more than enough for a home theater too especially considering 2.1 will still be upmixed to 5.1 using Dolby Pro Logic II regardless)
