5.0 out of 5 stars lost... its paradise., 19 Jan. 2010
That feeling when you are just waking up, or falling off to sleep, evrything seems to take longer, time is drawn out, extended. When you need to be taken into that other place, (the one near to a gregarian chant, but not quite a committment to buddism...)take you shoes off and relax, let this gem flow over you, follow you as you undertake the chores of the day.
I can imagine this to be a perfect antidote to the morning commute, but dont miss your stop, or what the hell.

4.0 out of 5 stars live Carmel., 19 Jan. 2010
This review is from: If You Don't Come Back (Audio CD)
This is live at Ronnie Scotts, with audience reaction, bass solo and the ever soulfull vocals. A late treat (not a direct copy of Live at Ronni Scotts titled CD? i will hav to check...)
The songs have an intimate un-produced sound and the selection is not intended to be top fourty, because of this it is a real addition to "her" output. It is made by the cool clarity of a laid back trio who could well charm and mellow out any audience luck enough to see them live. This is a good part wat there. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars one take, one takes?, 19 Jan. 2010
This is a one take, raw recording.
Does that mean it is more live than a recorded cd? On the cd journey i have followed for the last twenty five years RLJ has never dissapointed, always interesting and searching, rubbing up against the boundries of her craft.
Here she expresses (sings)the "word (or words) of "god" (jesus).... dont let the description or difficulty of marketing put you off. One of here live and lived performances, bought and paid for, it stands along the more melodic cd's a rwaw but not rough performance. If you listen carefully you will hear....

5.0 out of 5 stars 10,000 plus, 19 Jan. 2010
This review is from: Blind Man's Zoo (Audio CD)
There is within the distinctive and melodic tunes, lyrics of a raw shout, a cry of, against th maniacs responsible for events surrounding our "present".
Long after the hippy haircut has gone out of fashion, the number of antique dealers swelled. The folowing generation is forced to comment on the human condition, our collective mistakes.
Merchants vocal is well backed by the band, but never let finance be the all. It is not.

5.0 out of 5 stars "at ease" simply "more", 19 Jan. 2010
It is a natural development after twenty years to have mellowed, be more at ease, simply more. Well they are in every aspect.
The core of Shakti, masters of form, technique and practice include new members. Thre is a generosity evident btween the players, long solos are "allowed" with a silnce broken by the noise of smiles. Together they offer the posibility to be upliftd, relaxed, taken by the colective to a higher place, no ticket required there is always a free seat on this commuter train, "peace".

5.0 out of 5 stars this girl knows, 9 Dec. 2009
This girl knows how to sing. I have all her output, followed her curiosity as an artist, from seeing the debut lp four years bfore buying it.
Stripped back these songs still retain all the power and feeling of an artist at the top of her game. Worth hearing naked.

5.0 out of 5 stars simply the best....ever, 19 Aug. 2009
on the list of things to listen to before you die, put this at the top.
it is years on simply the most extrordinary thing on cd ever.
tracks defy western musical structure and timing, and replace the need for words. the most descriptive music, as good as the best and most emotional Kossoff guitar note. I think that if the two of them were in the same room I would want to be there!
the beatles did india, but.... listen to this!

5.0 out of 5 stars no line on the horizon...., 19 Aug. 2009
i saw this live, a performance which included a cry for a baby in the audience, (not on the cd) everyone in the hall notices and responded to the addition.
the other musicitons on the stage smiled, i still do. this is uplifting, an including, john does indian/jazz and takes you along. Dont refuse.
(if you about to buy the latest U2 listen to this first.)
