Prayers For The Damned
Prayers For The Damned
Price: £9.99

5.0 out of 5 stars A return to form, 17 July 2016
This review is from: Prayers For The Damned (Audio CD)
Great to listen to evoking memories of Heroin Diaries and This is Gonna Hurt. Great riffs, great lyrics and the band firing on all cylinders.
The last album, Modern Vintage was wishy-washy MTV friendly with pop songs in parts......NOT good!
Prayers For The Damned is like rolling back a few years. An excellent offering.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Vaughan legend continues......, 4 July 2016
Jimmie has made an absolute blinder of an album. A long time coming, but well worth the wait. His playing is sublime, his choice of songs are perfect, and good to see him showing everyone that he's certainly his own man, not just associated with his much-missed legendary brother.
A stroke of genius recruiting Lou Ann Barton, from the era of golden days of the Austin blues scene. Her voice STILL resonates.
Here's to Jimmie! Thanks for a fantastic blues album. 10/10 all day long! Please don't wait 9 years for the next release......and come and play in the UK sometime!

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolute disgrace to Stevies memory, 25 Feb. 2016
This review is from: Guitar Thunder (Audio CD)
I have many, many SRV recordings, both legal and bootleg, and I must say, the majority of the bootleg recordings are decent. This, however is a disgrace to Stevies' memory.
The sound is appalling and does nothing at all to showcase this exceptional guitarist.
I also find it a concern that Jeff Beck, normally so careful about his output let this one get out.
One to avoid Im afraid.

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't go wrong with this collection!, 30 Jan. 2016
This review is from: Best Of Bowie (Audio CD)
Personally, I think Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane are superior CDs, but if you want a 'Best of' collection, you won't beat this excellent offering.
Disc 2 tails off towards the end, but that's not a bad thing, just his earlier work is untouchable.

Cheap quality, susceptible to nasty scuffs on the inferior leather. Does a job, but better 'tat' on local market stalls at a fiver! Avoid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Patronising bilge from someone cashing in on her Royal connections, 22 Dec. 2015
I honestly believe this book should have an intro message something like this:

To help promote your book or business, ensure your sister marries into the Royal Family. I did. Then when she's ensconced there, use the 'fame by association method' and milk it for all that its worth. The money will roll in. it has for me, my mother and my brother. Somehow I can't seem to get daddy on board. Something about 'dignity' he tells me. Whatever that is!!

The 'tips' you get should also include some like these;
If you feel like eating a farmyard animal this Christmas, then why not try a turkey? For the best results, cook your turkey before serving.
A chipolata can be eaten from either end
If a group of strangers arrive on your door singing carols at Christmas, don't worry - they're probably only carol singers
If you want to wrap your presents in paper, then why not try wrapping paper?
To avoid that last minute dash, try and buy your Christmas presents before 23.59 on Christmas Eve, The more time you leave for buying presents, the longer you will have

Excellent series, really enjoyed this especially after his last dvd of live stand up that was sub standard by his usual hilarity.
Nice jokes, great one liners, a return to form

AMAZING DVD, just brilliant!
Welcome to the REAL London!
My 'only' gripe is that the producers decided to cancel the series after the second one.
A wasted opportunity, as this is just gripping from start to finish.
Something Noel Clarke wishes he'd done I bet!

2.0 out of 5 stars Epic fail, 3 Dec. 2015
This review is from: Fantastic Four [DVD] [2015] (DVD)
Awful, awful reboot. The original film was a bit ropey, but the sequel featuring The Silver Surfer was excellent, all things considered (Jessica Albas dire acting for instance)
When this was to be re-launched with a BLACK Johnny Storm, I just KNEW it was going to suck.
I was right.
WHY do studios decide to change essential characters to appease other minorities?
GREAT effects though, but I'm unsure about The Thing minus any pants to be honest!
I'm hearing that plans for a sequel have been shelved permanently.....on this viewing, you will see why!
3/10 from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lasting legacy of the finest guitarist of a generation, 27 Sept. 2015

Wow! 30 years on and STILL sounds fresh and looks stunning.
Captured at an intimate setting, a long way from Texas, Stevie, Tommy & Chris let rip from the word go, and don't let up.
Personally, I'd love to have seen more camera shots of his hands playing, but that's personal preference.
There is a poignant interview with Tommy & Chris as a bonus feature recorded 9 years after Stevies untimely death, and they STILL look dazed and haunted from his passing.
My only slight criticism from this fantastic release are the omission of several songs that WERE played and recorded but don't appear on this updated DVD.
You'll Be Mine and Little Wing appear on the official release of the CD from the Complete Epic Recordings but don't appear visually which is a huge pity.
Still, embrace this polished up DVD, and just feel the intensity of the playing from a true master yet to scratch the surface of his potential
