Tremolo, Crackles, Beats, Rhodes and Beth, 21 July 2014
Just finished reading this book and so far and this is the best one I have read in the series. A really informative breakdown of the background of Portishead and their development and influence on their corner of the 'Bristol Sound'.
RJ Wheaton strikes a great balance between techie recording geekery and human interaction, quoting interviews with the illusive band members and personal testimonies from people that have had life experiences and grown up with Dummy as their soundtrack.
Highly recommended and a book that will make you dig out the Phead back catalogue and listen with fresh ears to the unique tremolo, crackles, beats, rhodes and Beth.
