Drive seems to work fine but software incompatible with Windows 8, 1 Nov 2012
Installed and ran the drive no problem. Seems to read data fine. However the included PowerDVD software is version 10 which does not support Windows 8. With no native DVD or Blu-ray playback in Windows 8, you need software, which means you have to shell out for PowerDVD 12 - a £49.99 upgrade - just to play your movies. (The Windows Media Center upgrade for Windows 8 does not support Blu-ray either.) So five stars for the drive but two subtracted for useless software.
