The Messianic Writings
The Messianic Writings
Price: £7.43

5.0 out of 5 stars formidable and lucid, 7 Oct. 2011
Excellent layout of the print on each page, very clear with appropriate notes following underneath the main text on the same page, very neatly laid out, the text itself reads like the King James , very flowing and poetic without the archaisms, you can actually follow the KJV with this version. I found the footnotes and annotations very helpful and useful for putting into context and giving background to the text, by citing ancient sources one is able to grasp more clearly the Jewish roots and background of the Messianic Writings (commonly known as the New Testament) Daniel Gruber does an excellent job describing how and why the Messianic Writings (NT) is deeply rooted and grows out of the Hebrew Scriptures (commonly known as the Old Testament) I am glad I have a copy. Not only is it Holy Writ it is also a valuable tool that helps to unlock and place it in its proper setting, and I feel it goes a long way in understanding Jewish - Christian relations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old wine, the best, 1 Oct. 2011
The old wine is the best, this book, though written over a hundred years ago, still has the power to convey a central biblical truth, namely, the restoration of Israel. Without a shadow of doubt the author brings out the prophetic scriptures soundly and without sensation nor grammatical gymnastics, if you are interested in biblical prophecy this book is the creme de la creme, and especially if you are interested in Israel from a theological perspective, this will warm your heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional, 6 July 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Reading this book has made it clear for me why I had a natural aversion to school and all institutions that serve only to 'keep you in your place', I want to thank the author for writing this book, it is short but straight to the point. I like also what others have written about the book and comments especially Andrew Parodi and the comments to his review, so much that I can relate to. I am more than ever encouraged to start home schooling my children as soon as possible!

5.0 out of 5 stars old wine better than new, 15 Mar. 2011
This book was first published in 1841 by twelve clergymen of the Church of England, it is a far clearer exposition of why Israel and the Jews are very important to christians worldwide. The key to the church's health and the revival it so much craves is brought home to the believer very clearly and simply, though these lectures were published over one hundred years ago , they are more relevant today then they have ever been because the message contained in them is, I believe, of vital importance to the well-being of the church. It is a sad indictment on the church of today to see how far it has veered from authentic biblical teaching especially concerning Israel's future and restoration, with replacement theology rearing its ugly head yet again in our day, it is good to be reminded of the old paths such as this book maps out.
The old wine is so much better than the new, though there are some very good publications out there putting forth the sound biblical belief in Israel's future blessing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good and concise, 28 Feb. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A very good introduction that covers a great deal in a short space. On such a complex and controversial subject, this book is ideal, I found it sensible, fair and down to earth with adequate references for further study, written in an easy to read and pleasant manner, well worth it as a starter.

For a clear understanding of Israel, The British Mandate for Palestine and the conflicting interests in the Middle East. This book documents the legal evidence necessary to put Israel's case on very sound footing. In great detail it debunks the hoax perpetrated on the whole world , namely, that of a Palestinian People.
It clearly reveals the betrayal of the Mandate that was entrusted to the British to establish Palestine a home for the Jewish People and the Anti - Semitic nature of certain high ranking officials in the British Government of the time.
A very in-depth account of the weakness of the 'new historians' and purveyors of lies, if ever there was an 'invented people', as one Israeli academic claims, then surely it is the Non-Jewish people of Israel who today claim to be the 'true sons of the soil'.
Of course, the ethnic diversity of the people living in Israel is far more complex then simply Arab and Jew.
For any one truly interested in peace and prosperity for all people living in the Middle East then this book is essential in furthering the cause of truth and peace, simply because it goes to the roots of the problem of so much confusion and misunderstanding, revealing in great depth ( the book is over 700 pages long) so much of the causes of this conflict, that reach back to time immemorial.
Get a copy or get your library to get you a copy, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of this volume!

5.0 out of 5 stars essential reading, 25 Jan. 2008
a most important book that clearly uncovers the latent antisemitism that resides in christendom today, the author goes to the roots of a biased theology that has sought to appropriate to itself the promises that belong to israel, the arrogance of a gentile church that dismisses the jews as passe is brought out very well, i recommend this book to anyone interested in the wellbeing of the church today, and the true place of israel and the definite role that it has both today and in the future, a very sound book, no sensationalism nor twisting of scripture to fit an agenda, but simply and clearly brings out where the church is going wrong, i hope many people will read it.
