Blood Red Snow: The Memoirs of a German Soldier on the Eastern Front
Blood Red Snow: The Memoirs of a German Soldier on the Eastern Front
by Gunter K. Koschorrek
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Many of the soldiers were deeply religious, 20 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A good account of the war showing that the Germans were suffering continuous casualties. The only thing I regretted that was when he joined combat things were already going badly. I'd like to have seen how morale changed when they gradually changed from victory to defeat. One surprising thing is how many of the soldiers were deeply religious.

4.0 out of 5 stars You only get one strut, 20 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Although misleadingly they show 2 struts you only get one. In fact only one of mine was faulty so I just replaced that but I would have been happier to have replaced the pair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very encouraging for those still seeking fullfillment, 30 Mar 2012
Most of the Self Improvement books I've read concentrate on the moment or how quickly people turned their life around. Tom's book however emphasizes instead on how long it took them to break through , how ordinary their career or life had been beforehand , how few signs there had been of their future success. This approach is much more encouraging for those of us who still yearn for something more.

Many other things in this thoroughly researched book surprised me, that a 50 year old is only half say through his likely productive life, that a certain amount of life experience that can only be gained over many years is necessary to give people sufficient maturity to see a project through to completion.

Tom wants to help make Self Improvement a serious subject that may one day be taught and studied in college, for this reason book is rather more sober than the usual self-help tome. This does however mean that the reader has to work a little harder to glean the maximum amount of the benefit from this book My recommendation would be to read the book slowly and analyse why this or that person finally found success and could that be relevant to my situation?

I've done a longer review here [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars Removing/Replacing Battery Cover Difficult, 18 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As someone else here remarks this brush comes with no instructions at all. I got the battery cover on once by accident but now I cannot manage it all. Any tips/advice? The cover removes by pressing in the side clips.
Just managed it by pushing against a door frame, i.e. by brute force

3.0 out of 5 stars Long Live Gopher!, 11 Aug 2011
This is 640pp not 40 pages. Interesting from a historical point of view. It talks about Gopher, WAIS and mentions that the WWW may have a future. The first Internet book I ever bought or read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too abridged?, 24 April 2011
Although I am enjoying this story (I've never read the book, but have seen some of the TV program) I keep feeling that I must be missing out on detail. Perhaps someone who has read the book can confirm or deny.

3.0 out of 5 stars Marengo is Well known, 18 Jan 2010
Napoleon's faults were well known before this book, his luck at Marengo is more than well known , his hesitation at Borodino, that he was clapped out by Waterloo, that he handed out kingships to his family. Great Generals and great sportsmen always had their fair share of luck. Napoleon created scientific institutions, legal codes, redesigned cities, encouraged the arts, did away with ghettos and many other horrid customs, inspired extraordinary loyalty. No Napoleon cannot be dimmed by this book.
