4.0 out of 5 stars Occasional tables at a bargain price, 9 Dec 2013

Easy to assemble and look good with table lamps on. Made in GB so definitely a tick there. Price is good for furniture of this quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely little project, 9 Dec 2013

Rugmaking is so relaxing and rewarding. This particular kit is easy to follow and being quite small, is not too onerous. You need good light to work in as some of the shades are subtly different.
It will look great in my granddaughter's bedroom. In these days of laminate flooring it's nice to have something soft and cosy to put your feet on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Holiday reading, 1 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Afterwards (Kindle Edition)
I read this in the course of a day, having time on my hands. It's the sort of book where you itch to know what the outcome is. What I disliked about it, is that is was written from the perspective of a mother who has been declared brain dead and she is acting and living 'out of body' and watching the investigation of the arson at her child's school. It was a novel twist on a storyline but it wasn't really for me.

Matters Of Life & Death
Matters Of Life & Death
by Bernard MacLaverty
Edition: Paperback
Price: £5.31

4.0 out of 5 stars What a revelation, 1 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book of short stories took me by surprise. It was our local book club offering and, as I don't really like short stories, I was not expecting to be blown away by the quality of the storytelling and how MacLaverty engages you with the characters in such a compressed number of words. (some of the stories are very short). The style is very simple and conversational which makes for a very easy read. The setting for all but the last story was in Northern Ireland which made the final offering seem a bit incongruous. I really recommend this book and will certainly be looking for more by this talented author

4.0 out of 5 stars A good reference book to keep in the car, 26 July 2009
Whilst this is hardly a pocket book, it is compact enough to pack into a haversack for a day out. Quite comprehensive coverage of anything you are likely to see on a day out and enough detail for the average nature lover who only wants to be able to try to identify, birds, fungus etc.

Philips HD4666/22 Gloss Metal Kettle 1.7lt 3000w

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value kettle, 26 July 2009
This kettle is a good price, made by a respected and well-known manufacturer. Previous reviewers have commented on its noisiness but it's no worse than any other kettle I have owned and I am perfectly satisfied with the purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ghost story from a fantastic author, 10 July 2009
This review is from: The Little Stranger (Hardcover)
This is a great read for anyone wanting something not too taxing. It's a page turner and ideal for a summer read. Though it's billed as a ghost story, the characterisation is very good and the 'ghost' is not the main event, even though it informs the way the characters subsequently behave. The ending was a bit of an anticlimax but I enjoyed the journey enormously.
