4.0 out of 5 stars At their live peak., 30 Sep 2014

This review is from: Live at Wembley 1986 (Audio CD)
A year after Queen hit the big time at Live Aid they performed two record-breaking concerts at Knebworth and Wembley. An initial release, "Live Magic" concentrated on the Knebworth concert with a few tracks from Wembley, and has been judged to be one of the worst representations of a normally great live act on CD, thanks to highly edited tracks and a rushed feel as the highlights of a set are crammed onto one disc. This release restores the reputation, with practically the full live concert represented in all it's glory.

Queen at their peak were an awesome sight. I had the privilege to see them twice and this represents the very best. Of particular interest is the Rock and Roll Medley, with Freddie belting out such classics as Tutti Frutti and Hello Mary Lou - tracks Queen would not record in a studio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bargain from Zoverstocks, 30 Sep 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
At the time of release this version was £17-£18 and far too much to justify the purchase price. This cost 20p plus p&p from Zoverstocks, and whilst in obviously 2nd hand condition finally reveals that the bonus EP was well worth waiting for. The album itself holds up the high standards of the debut release, with many toe-tapping tracks that hit the singles chart before the purely digital age. The bonus EP maintains the high standards with 27 minutes of exclusive tracks, a demo and a remix. At this price it was a no-brainer, and a great reminder of what a unique group Scissor Sisters are. Lovely package too, with the discs held in sliding compartments that open out like the lift door of the cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Up there with Miles' best, 30 Sep 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The point at which Miles Davis started turning away from the traditional acoustic sound to his electric period. This transitional album shows the full extent of the work that went into that change, with many of these tracks not heard by fans until the late 70's helping to join the dots of how Miles got from A to B which at the time was a mystery. Quite a number of tracks are exclusive to this version, which starts with his initial experiments with electric keyboard from sessions which turned up on Filles de Kilimanjaro. In a Silent Way regularly comes up in lists of Miles' best work, but this exceeds the standard album release in so many ways. Whilst the original album is included, the work put in by Teo Macero is revealed with the original sessions used to compile the album - and more - finally revealed. Without doubt, this collection is up there with Kind of Blue - albeit in an entirely different genre. Get this before it disappears or gets priced beyond your pocket, you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great compilation that does not disappoint, 30 Sep 2014

I spent quite some time trawling through variations of Sly and the Family Stone's "Greatest Hits" style compilations before choosing this one, featuring all six tracks I could remember from listening to the radio in the early 70's. I was expecting the rest to be filler - how wrong can you be. Everything here is worthy of inclusion on this high quality, low price compilation. It has been a constant companion on the CD player for a month now and at no point does the quality dip. Surprise yourself with this package from this underrated band, surely long due favourable critical reassessment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mr Harry Nilsson - genius., 30 Sep 2014
A trawl through the wonderful career of the hugely underrated Harry Nilsson takes a chronological look at his back catalogue. Pretty much every classic you would ever need is here - Everybody's Talkin', Me and My Arrow, Without Her, Without You, One... the list goes on. Naturally there is a concentration on Harry's most successful work Nilsson Schmilsson with all but one track of the entire album included. There are some delightful hidden classics too with hard to find tracks included, but perhaps too little concentration on his later career. Nevertheless, this is a superb retrospective at a bargain price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric, 30 Sep 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Wow, what a classic. Just 28 minutes recorded by Miles with unfamiliar musicians improvised in front of a cinema screen make up this soundtrack, Miles' first. Not that you'd know as this is amongst his greatest work. Atmospheric, beautiful, don't let the short duration fool you as it leaves you satisfied and wanting more.

House Of Cards - Season 2 [DVD]

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value at £13, 30 Sep 2014

Anxious to continue the story after Season 1, this well written series deals with the corrupting nature of power and ambition with no morals. Excellent value at £13, the acting particularly from Spacey is excellent. However, docked a star for quite simply the worst DVD packaging it has been my mis-pleasure to encounter - ever. Tacky cardboard that arrived with the spline crushed, two leaves of the fold out casing stuck together with the thin plastic overlay peeling from two corners, glue not holding the packaging together... I could go on. Fantastic quality series, simply appalling quality packaging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Sony release but a joy to hear this concert, 30 Sep 2014

Not a Sony release but a joy to hear this concert. Crisp sound, low price, and as with all Miles Davis live CD's don't let the familiar titles put you off as improvisation always takes the tracks somewhere else. A lovely release well worth purchasing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Miles on the cusp, 28 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Taking a giant leap in the studio was on the cards yet Miles was still playing standards in concert. This excellent quality live recording is a snapshot of a period in time, showing the band in 1964. Only Miles knew it was being recorded, most of the rest were seething that Miles told them only just before the concert that all the band's fees were being donated to charity that night without asking first. Somehow the off stage tension crackled enough to bring out a great performance, with everyone on top form. Great stuff.

I wanted an easy way to transfer photos taken by other people onto a tablet. SD seems to be the format of choice for many newer cameras and tThis is a dirt cheap way of doing that and all without having to load drivers. As long as you treat the SD card with respect you should have no issues.
