1.0 out of 5 stars Mine was 0. 13-0. 15v out or about ..., 6 April 2015

Mine was 0.13-0.15v out or about 10%, as tested against two multimeters, and there's only an IC inside, no adjustment. I can't trust it so it's for the bin.

Bought this as a present for my mum, she loves it. Great that it's contactless charging, brightness is good, could be better but good for its size. All in all a good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wholly recommended, 5 Mar. 2015

Great little monitor, very low-power so it's the most trusted of my monitors (I have two). Handy the way it has the lead tucked away when not in use. Wholly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job!, 5 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Nice handy bit of kit, does the job, I found it doesn't quite fully charge the first time, but all you have to do is plug it back in for a top-up and it's good to go. Haven't used it as a power pack, just a charger, which works well. Build-quality isn't fantastic but good enough as long as you're careful with it. All in all a great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, 5 Mar. 2015

Let me add to the glowing reviews of this item! I'm writing this from a laptop I just upgraded using this device, the whole process took about 2 hours and half of that was downloading the Acronis software. I upgraded my Intel 160GB SSD to a Crucial 250GB unit because I was running out of space which tends to slow down SSD performance. I cloned Windows 7 using the Acronis software, which worked without a hitch. It's a simple case of downloading the software, activating it (which involves registration using the code in the pack, and an email comes back with the activation code), fitting the new SSD in the enclosure and plugging it in, choosing clone drive and automatic settings, letting it restart and then letting it run which took about 15 minutes (I have a USB 3.0 port - it might take longer on USB 2.0). After it's finished, shut down and swap the drives. Hey presto, you're in business, and you've got a spare external drive for backups. Brilliant.

I would say the enclosure is OK, not the best build quality but good enough for the purpose. You also get a USB 2.0/3.0 dedicated cable for the external enclosure, a spacer for increasing to 9mm if needed, an adaptor for using in 3.5 inch bays including all screws, and a 3-year warranty. What more could you ask for at this price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, if breathless, overview of mankind's ethical journey, 19 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As someone who is just beginning to explore philosophy and ethics, having only dipped my toe in in the past, I can only recommend this book. It's a bit of a whistle-stop-tour, only briefly touching on some major themes before moving on, and it's only 344 pages (on Kindle with narrow margins) so you're left a bit breathless by the end with a lot to think about, but it's absolutely fascinating and does it's job of giving a broad overview of the ethical journey mankind has been on since ancient times admirably. I've only dropped a star because I think he could easily have explored some of the themes a bit more and added a couple of hundred pages without detracting from the readibility and the ultimately satisfying nature of the book. Still, definitely one book I'm glad to have read. Thank you Mr. Malik!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother if you want to read the wisdom of Epictetus, 21 Oct. 2014
Don't bother with this if you want to read the wisdom of Epictetus, because what you're buying is Sharon Lebell's weak, Americanised, low-brow "interpretation" of the Enchiridon.

Let me give you an example of how this "philosophical writer and musician who lives in North California" puts very much her own words into Epictetus's mouth:

Original, from number 33: "As far as possible, before marriage, keep yourself pure from familiarities with women, and, if you indulge them, let it be lawfully. But don't therefore be troublesome and full of reproofs to those who use these liberties, nor frequently boast that you yourself don't."

Ms. Lebell: "Abstain from casual sex and particularly avoid sexual intercourse before you get married. This may sound prudish or old-fashioned, but it is a time-tested way by which we demonstrate respect for ourselves and others. Sex is not a game. It gives rise to very real enduring emotional and practical conseuences. To ignore this is to debase yourself and to disregard the significance of human relationships. If, however, you know someone who has had casual sex, don't self-righteously try to win them over to your own views. An active sex life within the framework of personal commitment augments the integrity of the people involved and is part of a flourishing life."

Not quite the same, is it! I'm particularly offended by her last sentance which could be taken by someone who isn't enjoying an active sex life for whatever reason (by choice, for example) that they're not flourishing.

I bought this book from a high-street seller and I wish I hadn't. It's going in the recycling bin. To be sure, you're not getting the wisdom of the ancients reading this, you're getting second-rate low-brow crap. Avoid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality, cheapo crap you're just going to throw away. Don't bother., 14 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This thing arrived in packaging which was already opened and had been stapled back together. Not a good start. The light itself is poor, gives out next to no light, and takes up a lot of space on the handlebar. The rear light can't be switched off, only un-plugged, so you risk running the battery down if you forget. Disappointing. Build quality is poor not built to last. Bin fodder. Don't bother.

Thermos Stainless King Flask - 1.2 L, Blue
Thermos Stainless King Flask - 1.2 L, Blue

4.0 out of 5 stars Good buy - does the job, good quality, built to last, shame it only has one cup, 14 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This does what it says on the tin, keeps things hot (or cold) for ages, and is quality built to last.

The only shame is, being that there's 1.2 litres, there's only one cup. Some flasks have two - a smaller one which fits into the main one which forms the lid. It would be nice to have a 2nd cup - if your drink is for two you have to remember to bring a 2nd cup or share the main cup. Otherwise, top buy, you won't be disappointed it's worth the extra cash compared with other flasks. It's stainless steel not glass inside so it will last.

2.0 out of 5 stars Over-hyped. Some nice passages in places but generally - meh!, 14 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Yellow Birds (Paperback)
I was given to expect something extraordinary with this book, but I found it pretty mediocre. There is much better war literature out there. There is some nice writing in places but the story doesn't really go anywhere, and I understand that that could be kind of the point, as in reflecting the pointlessness of war and so on, but in the end you feel a bit sort of let down after reading it, like "why did I bother!". The quality of his writing suggests he could do better, and perhaps an author to keep an eye on, but I'd pass over this one - doesn't live up to the hype.
