3.0 out of 5 stars Not for Dallas diehard's, 4 Feb. 2015
This review is from: Dallas - Season 3 [DVD] (DVD)
What a shame 'new' Dallas was cancelled at the end of season 3, especially with so many cliffhanger's. That said, much of the season was a struggle, losing momentum quickly from a terrific and fast paced season 2. The trouble is that the show strayed too far from the family Ewing - Dallas was never about drug cartels, and call girl madams, and such nonsense and it was disappointing to have to see 'drunk' Sue Ellen again (borning!) and the constant references to JR were clearly an effort to remind viewers of what made the show great. Larry Hagman's untimely demise early in season 2 left a whole in the show which could not be filled. The producers also made the mistake of not thinking about their audience, which was as much the old 'diehard' Dallas generation as well as new fans, and the old Dallas diehard's don't like lesbian bedroom scenes, of which there is a very, very, awkward scene mid-season. However, the finale episode is terrific - well paced and fantastically story driven. Just a shame we'll never know where it was to go...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fancy Pants!, 15 Dec. 2014

I love Michael Kors...and I love his pants!

These are exactly what I wanted - cotton briefs, slightly higher on the waist than usual briefs (which, I feel, make for a better fit). Also, being 100% cotton, they are breathable and comfy. And designer to boot! - cannot help ensuring that the banding is just visible above my jeans, to flash my Michael Kors!

Worth the money.

Awful. Rubbish. Not even funny (as suggested by the blurb). Love Sarah Palin, hence the purchase, but feel dirty just having this trash in my house. Terrible read. Childish but in a vulgar way. AVOID!

Nowhere near as good/ interesting/ scary/ as AHS S1. Never finished the season and has spoilt any desire to watch further seasons.

3.0 out of 5 stars Spent ages looking for an umbrella that is bloke-ish but ..., 26 Oct. 2014
Spent ages looking for an umbrella that is bloke-ish but not black (hey, lets all try to be abit different). So was excited when I found this wooden-handled brolly in brown. However...its not water-proof (surely a prerequisite for a brolly?!?) and it bends in the wind. Seriously, in a moderate gale, half the brolly bent in flat. I bent the metal pins back out again, to give the brolly back its shape, but as I've had to do this several times now, fear this item won't last much longer (a feel a metal pin breakage is in the works!). Does the job. For now. As long as its not 'too rainy' but know it won't last though. What's cheap is cheap I guess.

2.0 out of 5 stars What's cheap is cheap., 26 Oct. 2014

Shiny and cheap. I should've known better. Seams split literally on second wearing. However, if I'm picky on when I wear them, I might get a couple more outings out of these cheap, faux-everything shoes. Would suggesting avoiding. They're cheap!

5.0 out of 5 stars Soooo comfy!, 26 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I hate those rubber sweaty Crocs that parents let their kids run around in for the summer months (why are they always sooo dirty?) and have never left that the plastic looking footwear ever seems quite right on adults. However, this Croc is different - firm rubber sole, comfy inlay, and canvass outer. This shoe is COMFY. The styling is 'shabby-chic' and can be dressed-up or played-down depending on your outfit. Seriously it goes with anything. To be expected, it doesn't go well with rain though (literally soaks up everything in the canvass outer) so not a shoe to wear probably much outside of the summer months. However, terrific buy and good quality.

NOTE: size up! Whatever your UK foot size is, buy one size larger, or you'll be bursting out the sides!

5.0 out of 5 stars Political Drama, 26 Oct. 2014

Terrific miniseries, truly. Weaver plays the US Secretary of State, despite being a former First Lady herself (to the previous President). She has grown-up twin boys (one straight, one gay) and a battle-axe mother. The 6 episodes take us through her challenges in the run-up to the US Primary race to determine who will stand for election as the next President. I'm sure the buzz is that its all 'fictionally' based on the Clintons and what did/didn't might/could happen.

The cast is exceptional (Ciaran Hinds, Ellen Burstyn, Sebastian Stan...) and the writing-plotting top notch.

Unfortunately, the show has never/ probably will not ever air in the UK, and with no region 2 DVD release, I fear that many in the UK will never get to enjoy this wonderful piece of TV drama. However, those that can watch multi-region or can download - do it! You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A long time in coming but worth the wait!, 28 Jun. 2014
The Good wife is one of the few quality TV shows airing right now and its success is, in part I think, driven by its fantastic score! David Buckley is amazing at using music to catch the moment, helping drive the scene or slow it down.

However, you don't have to have watched the show to appreciate his orchestral talents - many of these tunes can be appreciated as stand alone pieces of music (such as the rousing 'Hitting The Fan'). That said, several of the pieces wouldn't be out of place on soundtrack albums for the likes of LOTR (such as 'Partner Swing Vote' and 'Willicia') as they have that roaring 'fight or flight' -type quality (my heart rate quickens listening to both pieces).

Cannot recommend enough, and hope that this is only volume 1 of The Good Wife OST set.
