2.0 out of 5 stars dreadful disappointment, 31 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
On paper this laptop seemed just perfect, and the reviews i saw online suggested this too. I'd never had a Samsung before, usually went for Acers, but decided to try this out. And when it arrived I was really excited and liked the look of it, the screen, the keyboard, USB 3.0s, everything looked great. I really really wanted it to be great.

But. it. is. awful. it is painful. I am bemused at why it is so bad and so slow. I have liaised with Samsung and performed a complete reboot. I have removed virtually all the programmes from it, most of my important documents are now in sheltered accommodation on my external hard drive, and yet still it. is. so. damned. slow.

i click on a word document. and wait. and wait. and wait. and go and fill the kettle and turn it on. and come back. and wait. and wait.

i right click on a text file - a text file for goodness sakes!! - and wait. and wait. and after about 15 seconds the small window opens up asking me what i want to do. i want a different computer!

watching movies on the laptop is infuriating as they keep...

...

...

...freezing.

and the internet doesn't seem to work anymore with this laptop. i've had to phone samsung about this and changed all the power settings but still the wifi is useless. internet constantly just freezes. I end up going online with my iPad and funnily enough, no problems with the internet with it. I also end up reaching for my 6 year old ACER and it's faster than this thing!! and when pages do download, i would seriously say every 2 or 3 times i open a page it hasn't downloaded correctly and i have to refresh. dreadful performance from a £500 brand new computer.

Anyway I have contacted amazon and they have been superb - as usual - with their returns policy. I'm just trying to decide what is the best alternative around the £500 mark - back to ACER?! maybe stretch my budget to an apple? think i'll give Samsung a miss. And yet i see other reviews for this computer and people seemed to love it! maybe i just got a dud?!

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle rip off - £7 for a 6 year old book, £6.30 for the paperback, 18 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
How can amazon justify charging this price for a kindle version of this book? What are their expenses?! How can a physical paperback be cheaper?! The profit they must be making is sickening.

The book itself i haven't read yet. I'm just so angry Bout this rip off.
Unfortunately iBooks is charging the exact same price. They obviously have a cartel set up. So much for snooks being cheaper than paperbacks due to less expenses for the seller...

2.0 out of 5 stars a real let down after seasons 1-3, 10 July 2010
having come to Entourage late, i absolutely devoured seasons 1-3, amazed at the fantastic dialogue, the wit and intelligence, the over-the-top yet believeable characters, such as Ari and Billy Walsh. Couldn't wait to watch season 4.

Oh dear. I don't know what happened, if they changed the director, the writer, whatever they did, season 4 was awful. compared to the average tv show maybe it was 'ok' but compared to seasons 1-3 it was terrible. Situations that didn't make sense or seem plausible. We've grown to feel we know these characters, yet in this series, the characters were acting 'out of character'. New characters would be introduced only to disappear and never be seen again. Entire episodes came and went that were just plain boring. Celebrities making appearances that were pointless (Mary J Blige anyone, what was the point of that? just to kiss her ass?). It reminded me of Ugly Betty, and i don't like ugly betty. the comedy went from witty to slapstick. and bad slapstick at that. Johnny Drama, a classic comedy character, is turned into a parody. like Joey from Friends - started out funny, ended up a dumb comedy item.

put it like this, seasons 1-3 are dripping with all-time classic quotes; season 4, i'd be hard pushed to think of even one. i don't think i even laughed once the entire series. I just hope season 5 is better; i'm thinking it must be, cos if it was like season 4 i don't think the show would still be going.

4.0 out of 5 stars possibly his best album, 21 Mar. 2010
This review is from: Hooba Dooba (Audio CD)
superb album. i'm a long-time fan and was unsure what this album was going to be like but it's superb, relaxed, confident and even has a beatles cover! probably his best album since back to the centre i think, even if stylistically it is very different.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful TV show, 25 May 2009
Adrian Mc Elholm. i absolutely loved everything about this show. the acting, the script and dialogue, and the dark dark humour! you find yourself laughing at things you just shouldn't laugh at! and the plot was completely gripping, had me completely hooked - be careful with the box set or you could very well end up having an all-nighter!! special mention has to go to the soundtrack too which is beautiful, moving and hypnotic at times...

3.0 out of 5 stars a bit dry, 25 May 2009
Adrian Mc Elholm. i found this book a bit dry and uninspiring. i think opening with a chapter on grammar and tenses makes it a very tough introduction. probably technically very good, but uninspiring...

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderfully dark humour!, 25 May 2009

Adrian McElholm. i came to this book having seen the tv series; it is a superb novel and hard to believe a first novel! very darkly funny, you laugh at events when you think you shouldn't. and the story itself is actually significantly different to the first series on tv and i think probably a better story.
