Great debut album, 15 May 2010
A fine debut album from a great guitar player, with an accomplished rhythm section behind him all the way - it's hard to believe that these guys are so young. This album has a good mix of songs and features some sublime guitar twiddlage from Mitch Laddie. If blues/rock is your bag, in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, BB/Albert/Freddie King, then buy this album.
Personally, I prefer the the rockier stuff on the album which breaks away from the 12 bar format. The first track, Awakening, (which is really just an intro), and Float On By is right up my street and I really like the cover of Papas Got A Brand New Bag. Plenty of slower blues there too, and a live recording of duelling guitars between Mitch and Walter Trout, (which maybe goes on a bit too long IMO), but hey, the guitar playing throughout the album is played with such style and feeling, I can't criticise the guy. (I play guitar myself by the way)
This fella will only get better - and good luck to him !
