THIS IS A REVIEW FOR Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection [Blu-ray] [2011] [Region Free] [2001]
It's missing Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I am now having to spend more money so that I can get the 5th Harry Potter even though I've already spent money on it - not a happy customer

5.0 out of 5 stars A thing of beauty, 31 Aug. 2010
This review is from: Halloween Tree (Hardcover)
This is one of the most magical books you're ever likely to come across in a lifetime of reading. Wonderful beyond words, it will stay with you long after you've read it. Word of warning: you may find yourself reading it time and again as a consequence, just to immerse yourself in this beautifully crafted story once more.

The Spook's Apprentice: Book 1 (The Wardstone Chronicles)
The Spook's Apprentice: Book 1 (The Wardstone Chronicles)
by Joseph Delaney
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars THE LOVECRAFT OF TODAY FOR YOUNG READERS, 30 April 2010
There are books you read to pass the time, others because of the subject matter and then there are the ones you will always thank yourself wholeheartedly for picking them up in the bookstore.

This is one of the latter; as per my nickname I read vast amounts of books of every literary genre and for all ages. The Wardstone Chronicles now stands amongst my all time favourite series along those written by authors such as Asimov, Pullman, Pratchett, Gaiman and other great contemporary writers.

At the moment this is the only publication that has me counting the days till the next book in the series.

Joseph Delaney is one of the VERY rare authors who is both a fantastic writer AND an outstanding story teller. Through countless readings of young adult fiction, I have found that the writers who can make such claim in this genre are very, very few indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars from a R. Matthews fan, 19 Mar. 2010
This review is from: In Search of Forever (Paperback)
Rodney Matthews has long been my favourite fantasy illustrator so I was thrilled when I came across this book a few years ago.
The book showcases a generous amount of his works through the years.
It's a large format book but being a fan of R.M. I wish it were as big as Taschen's outstanding A3 edition of H.R. Giger's works.

Vampire Haiku
Vampire Haiku
by Ryan Mecum
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Haiku bloody humor, 3 Mar. 2010
This review is from: Vampire Haiku (Paperback)
This light read gives a humorous twist to the beautiful poetic art of Haiku.
Recommend it to anyone who's ever enjoyed fantasy fiction and wants to flick through a few pages that give 3-liners insight into everyday thoughts and dilemmas a vampire faces.
I also enjoyed the historical references, unexpected bonus in such an inconsequential read.

The X-Files: Ground Zero
The X-Files: Ground Zero
by Kevin J. Anderson
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Great x-files story, 29 Oct. 2009
Fantastic plot, scientific but with the expected mythical twist; great writing: Kevin Anderson is my favourite when it comes to X-Files narratives; loved the ethical dilema created in the story between scientific progress vs humanitarianism.
A real page turner: good old fashion investigation mixed with some serious contemporary issues of warfare at all costs.

Kenny & the Dragon
Kenny & the Dragon

3.0 out of 5 stars A very readable remake of a Kenneth Grahame's original:"The Reluctant Dragon", 27 Oct. 2008
This review is from: Kenny & the Dragon (Hardcover)
Bought the book yesterday and finished it in one go: it's lovely, funny and moving. I had read The Reluctant Dragon about a month ago and was initially stunned as to why Tony DiTerlizzi decided to write and publish his version of Grahame's excellent original. That being said, Tony DiTerlizzi names the 2 main characters Kenneth and Grahame plus toward the end they briefly mention The Reluctant Dragon so it looks like this new version is more of a thank you to Kenneth Grahame than DiTerlizzi running short of ideas for a new book. I found this new one very enjoyable in its own right and the illustrations are wonderful. Nevertheless I'm only giving it three stars on the basis that this new version is too similar to the original.
