Silence Of The Lambs: (Hannibal Lecter)
Silence Of The Lambs: (Hannibal Lecter)

5.0 out of 5 stars The best film, the best book., 9 Feb. 2003
Of the three books in the Hannibal Trilogy this is easily, in my opinion, the most gripping read. Although Red Dragon had the creepy portrayal of the passionate killer Francis Dolarhyde, and Hannibal the sheer coolness of having Lecter roaming the streets, both seemed to lack the eeriness of the intense Lecter/Starling encounters of Silence. Graham's meetings with Hannibal 'the cannibal' Lecter are over far too quickly and with Clarice chasing the escaped monster in the third outing, there is just too little contact between the two characters. All three books are well worth reading, but this one has just got the edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Course it's great - It's The Simpsons!, 20 July 2002
First of all, "viewer from cambridge" the comedy falling down the cliff scene is not missing - I don't know if you have got a different version than me, but mine showed the episode Bart The Daredevil in its entirety.
Whereas we all bought season 1 to be reminded how it all started, and how great it was even back then, season 2 is worth buying because nearly every episode is a classic. Yes, this is from the time when Simpsons Mania was just setting in, and watching this DVD set reminded me just what all the fuss was about. The animation is much prettier than the glitch-ridden first season and already the plots and jokes are getting much better. The extras are what you expect - the comentries are quite insightful, but apart from this there's nothing particularly astounding. Unlike with Season 1, which had but 13 episodes to its name, you get more for your money this time round, the 4 DVDs having in total 22 episodes for you to watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why, thats the second best adventure game I've ever played!, 27 April 2002
Well actually its not the second best, it is THE best adventure game I've ever played. Although not for everyone, fans of the genre will love the latest installment to the Monkey Island series. Its all there; puzzles, monkeys, grog, humour and whelks. The puzzles are often amusing (using prosthetic skin as a trampoline for an example) and usually very challanging- only the most determined puzzlers will not give into the temptation of searching for a walkthrough on the third act. A small fault is that later on in the game you have to be very careful what you do, and in what order you do it- if you make a mistake that will prevent you solving a later puzzle you have to start over from your last saved game or, if you save after the mistake, start from scratch-Aaaargh! However, the conversion from PC to PS2 is great and will keep you playing for hours and hours.
A thumbs-up from The Stoat!

4.0 out of 5 stars Yes, I think it's great., 31 Mar. 2002
Metal Gear Solid 2 is a great game. With breathtaking graphics and awesome gameplay, this is a total blast- while it lasts. While I don't like games that go on forever, that only the most dedicated of gamers will actually finish, I did think that this was a bit too short. The plot, although perfectly fine at the first chapter and alright for most of the plant chapter, gets a bit messed up at the end, which is a bit annoying when for most of the game you'll actually be watching instead of playing. I think that the usual mark of around 96% in most magazines was a bit generous, but this is undeniably an amazing game which totally pushes your PS2 to its limits and takes total advantage of the pressure sensitive joypad, more so than any other game I have played so far.
A thumbs-up from the stoat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roll on GTA4!, 5 Jan. 2002
It's sick, it's twisted, but lets face it, this game is a beauty. If the graphics and gameplay weren't as good, I don't think GTA3 would get away with it. One of the best titles on the PS2.
A thumbs up from the Stoat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mario- super? Not any more!, 1 Jan. 2002
This review is from: Wario Land 4 (GBA) (Video Game)
Before playing this game I expected a very average Mario style game. Could I have been more wrong? This isn't the normal jump, jump, collect the mushroom style gameplay that the Mario games give us- You get set on fire, turned into a bat, frozen, stung by bees until your head swells and you float and goodness knows what else- making Warioland 4 a unique gaming experience. Warioland 4 is the real Mario Advance and the best game on the system.
A big thumbs-up from The Stoat

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay. Won't blow you away like..., 31 Dec. 2001
When I saw the 3D-style gameplay on the pictures on the box and when first playing the game, I thought, WOW, this is gonna be great. After half an hour of running round rescuing stupid little fairies in very similarly dull levels i was beginning to doubt it.
The gameplay is surprisingly difficult and I had trouble at first, yet it doesn't get much harder- there's no learning curve- The cutesy characters and storyline are obviously aimed at young children but I don't know any who'll have the patience to play this game.
However, the graphics are quite pleasing and are a refreshing change to the normal 2D style games but this doesn't hide the fact that there are better games out there. I swapped this game for Warioland 4, which decks it all over. It's got a wide variety of gameplay style and although 2D, is much more pleasing to the eye than this game.
If you've completed Warioland 4 you can consider getting this game. Not The Stoat's favourite advance game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best platformer on the PS2!, 31 Dec. 2001
Actually I lied, this isn't the best platformer on the PS2: It's the best platformer EVER. This game provides PS2 owners with what Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex failed to deliver. I won't go on telling you what makes this game so good, the other reviews have done it already plus it would take too long.
A few slight- VERY slight, mind you (hence the five stars)- downsides are the occasional dodgy camera angles when in crampt places and the simple, seen it before controls and moves- but hey, its a platformer, that's what we expect. It would be nice to see some Daxter moves, like the Banjo and Kazooi game on the N64.
Even if you aren't that big of a platformer fan (like me) you'll probably love this game. The beautifully detailed, fully explorable world will NEVER fail to impress, and if you buy this game you will not be dissapointed.
A thumbs up from The Stoat.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Product, 12 Feb. 2001
Now you can play head-to-head with your friends with the link cable. You can use it on Original GameBoys, Pocket GameBoys and Color GameBoys too. With games like Pokemon, the link cable is nessessary to fully complete the game, and with the light, you can play day or night just as easily. This product is really useful when playing your GameBoy.
