William F. Nolan's Logan's Run - Last Day #1

1.0 out of 5 stars save your money, 24 May 2014

Want the story, that is, the narrative of Logan's run? Then dont waste your time with this third rate comic. Poor, even by American standards, it does not even rate as a half decent storyboard. A compete and utter waste of money buying and waste of time reading.

If you need to work with right angled jack plugs, then these are the boys you need. Robust, easy to work with, (apart perhaps from the coating on the earth pin that can be a little resistant to tinning. Other than that, very please.

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon- You Have To Do Better!, 22 April 2014
I am sick to death of seeing "free" apps, only to find there are hidden charges further down the line. To my mind, this is sailing perilously close to false advertising, and frankly, Amazon, we expect better from you. Various Trading Standards departments are aware of this practice, and you can expect interest from the Government shortly, I suspect. To clamp down on advertisers who allow partial information such as this would be an easy vote winner!

Great to read the scripts and, unusually, to commentaries in this books are realistic, and totally devoid of the "luviness" and artistic anguish that populates many books of this type. Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent in all respects, 14 April 2014

From the pomposity of a certain breed of self opinionated academics, to the ancient and outmoded traditions of university life, Tom Sharpe effortlessly encapsulates everything that it contemptible about Oxbridge. The dourness of Skullion, and his reverence of gentlemen still exists to this day, although the strictness has gone, and few colleges would dare send down a woman or anyone from an ethnic minority background. We need tradition it is, after all, what made Britain great, and despite current thinking, that is something to be proud of. So read this humorous and acutely well observed book, and spare a thought for those whose degrees are still, paid for in full,by tax breaks for the well off, while those of lesser means leave with debts the size of small mortgages. Degree education is open to everyone, yet it remains free only for the rich,

1.0 out of 5 stars Unsurprising,, 2 Mar 2014
This is a dull and uninspiring work from a lecturuer whose most notable acheivement is the lack of men on her course. Having studied a related arts course where dance was a small component with this author, I can say from first hand experience that this book will do little to help anyone - particularly males - who dance to understand anything other than how full of herself Valerie Briggenshaw is. That this was the text for a Phd does not surprise me, as she says herself, this is an almost totally unexplored field - having read this tiresome book it is easy to see why. It is an exercise in overcomplicated, over-intellectualised academic masturbation. In that, it succeeds brilliantly.

If you want to dance or choreograph, then put this book back on the shelf and read the works of those who have actually done something about it themselves.

2.0 out of 5 stars a missed opportunity, 1 Mar 2014

This review is from: I Got Some In (Kindle Edition)
Speaking as someone who "got some in" I wonder why so many opportunities were missed in this account. Little is said of the feelings that go through the mind of an 18 year old conscript, or the horrors of basic under universally hated corporals. In my squadron, we also had beastings on a regular basis, and cutting the grass next to the runway with nail scissors while keeping a good eye upwind was always nerve wracking. What of the night flying sheds which were painted by people like me so,often that there was more dulux than wood present? One or two amusing anecdotes, but this does not portray anything approaching the real feeling of getting some in. A shame.

Unbelievable is the word that comes to mind. A millionaire, putting himself through basic plus? No. I just don't buy it. Fun anecdotes and all, but significant gaps in the story.
