The clock is much bigger than I thought it was going to be. I am not sure I saw a description of the clock on the write up.

As ever, a very funny book from an intelligent author. A bit shorter than some of his novels, but well worth a read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good old science fiction, 12 Dec 2012

A good old science fiction story. Space ships, star travel and fearsome aliens. A real good yarn. On the down side, it does get a bit long winded on the technical side from time to time.

As always fromTerry Pratchet an amusing book. It display once again his inteligent use of the English language, with subtle references to other works. However not his best work. Sometimes the references were a bit too obvious and heavy handed. Well worth a read though.

2.0 out of 5 stars Robinson Crusoe finally read, 9 Nov 2012

This review is from: Robinson Crusoe (Kindle Edition)
Thought I had read this years ago, but apparently not. It is not the story I remember from my childhood or from the old films. Not sure what message Defoe was trying to get across, but it does not make for good reading. Full of religious claptrap even in the face of the evidence against his stated position. Crusoe is bombastic and self important, but he does do the right thing for those that helped him.
