5.0 out of 5 stars Classic 70's crap....., 3 April 2014
.....but I mean that in the best possible spirit! Captain Kirk stars as a small town vet caught up with his late brothers ex wife and a spider specialist played by the lovely Tiffany Bolling as vicious arachnids burst forth from Woody Strode's farm. It's preposterous but you'll love it, and look out for the crappiest matte painting ever right at the end!

A book I read as a 14yr old back in 1978, cant think what I made of it then but I bought it for nostalgic reasons and im glad I did. It's a good old fashioned adventure story that should be more well known than it is. The characters are nicely drawn, theres great atmosphere plus a giant gator, what more could you want!!???

If you only read 1 book about Roger Corman make this the 1. Lovingly illustrated, with some great quotes from those very familiar names who got their break because of him. But if you wanna read 2, try Mindwarp by Christopher Koetting, a fabulous book about the rise and fall of New World Pictures, priceless!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars this is no pulp novel........., 3 April 2014

Bought this expecting a bloody animal attack novel like The Rats but its much more than that! A fabulous, sad, and touching account of a loving pet gone wild. Its bloody, don't get me wrong but tragic too. Buy it and read it in one sitting, a great story 5 out of 5.

5.0 out of 5 stars So it's not really jason....get over it!!!!!, 29 Mar 2014
That's right it's some other guy, who cares? It's a Friday the 13th movie, you get your inventive kills (in fact this one has one of the highest bodycounts of the lot, so there!) gratuitous nudity ( Debbie Sue Vorhees....I'm lost for words...) stock characters quickly introduced then butchered (who are those two guys in leather? And when will they release A Rat Tat Tat Tat Tooey?) and with this one a cheesy Scooby Doo ending. Crack open a beer and enjoy this sleazy gem, they go tragically downhill from this point onwards.

If you're a fan of the animal attack genre then this book's for you. They're all in here! Arranged in chapters with titles like Slither and slime, Vicious vermin and Creepy crawlies you'll find great reviews of the usual suspects like Jaws and Tarantula and some unheard of oddities (to me anyway) you'll want to track down, like Chosen Survivors (Richard Jaeckel and Bradford Dillman trapped in a fallout shelter full of vampire bats!) Would have got 5 stars if they had included some posters with the reviews but musn't grumble, a good fun read well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars take off your pantyhose godammit!!!.........., 29 Mar 2014

Fantastic, cheesy allstar 70s disaster pic. Chuck Heston in a wig, Richard Rountree in a leather onesie and Victoria Principal NOT in a bra! Great old school effects courtesy of matte painting supremo Al Whitlock. It doesn't get any better than this, an its never looked any better than this blu ray edition, but where are the extras Universal? Put some effort in or WE'LL come round and flatten Zsar Zsar Gabors hedge!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic...., 29 Mar 2014

from the brilliant author of Pelham 123 comes another winner! Summer in the big apple and a black mamba is on the loose in central park. Cracking pace, great characters and lots of 70s atmosphere. Don't be put off by its pulpy title and cover this is a great read, highly recommended.
