Given that you are into science fiction and possess a great deal of appreciation for movies made on a tiny budget, you will find this flick utterly fascinating. It draws you in with its cool soundtrack and its oddball dialogue, both of which are fundamental to its unique atmosphere that you will stick with you long after viewing this movie. By low budget standards you cannot really hope for something more perfect than what this fantastic little film has to offer.

Now that this little gem made its way to a deserving blu-ray release, there is really no excuse for not adding it to your collection. Please simply buy it, watch it and be a happier sci-fi geek like I am. It is worth every penny and then some.

A funny little road movie that makes for an entertaining watch.

I have a soft spot for movies about clashing personalities that gradually learn how to get along and this flick delivered on that perfectly. It basically follows the same story as Planes, Trains & Automobiles and it even contains the same lighthearted tone. That mixed with a bearable running time of less than two hours (which is almost unheard of in Bollywood terms) and you have a great movie you can watch with someone who is not acquainted with Indian cinema. It may go too far with the burp and fart jokes here and there though.

5.0 out of 5 stars not buying this is the real crime, 16 July 2014
This review is from: Super [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
A fun ride in a darkly comic sort of way. It reminded me more of God Bless America rather than Kick-Ass, mainly because of the way its serious side is executed. Underneath the costume there is a genuinely lovable but troubled character to be found instead of an overly accessible and typical teenager. This makes for a far more engaging watch as this movie tells its story in a traditional superhero fashion that still manages to come across as fresh.

I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in tongue-in-cheek movies with a firm bite. If you are looking for something a little more thrilling and entertaining, then you are probably better off with a movie like Kick-Ass.

5.0 out of 5 stars perhaps the best one we will ever have, 16 July 2014

The bloodiest portrayal of Detroit made its way to another blu-ray release, perhaps the best one we will ever have.

Obviously the image quality is breathtakingly crisp, however, it is not really a 4K transfer as advertised (downscaled to 1080p on the disc!). Also in some unrated parts there are specific shots where the quality is noticeably less focused and more grainy. This leads me to suspect that this transfer is built on a combination of two negatives that are not evenly matched in resolution. The commercials and news broadcast also have this same problem. It is not really something worth complaining about, but it is worth highlighting given the fact that most reviewers have the urge to depict this release as the most perfect thing ever.

All that aside, I recommend buying this movie. It is not too pricey and it features all the extras that previous releases did not offer.

This low budget science fiction gem truly deserves to be part of any self-proclaimed cinephile's collection.

It contains all the right genre elements, each heightened enough, to offer you a solid, engaging and hilarious experience. Not only does it draw inspiration from classics like Gremlins and Aliens, it also taps into the cozy intoxicating atmosphere of the Irish pub culture, which seems like a weird mix and match to do, but it works perfectly here.

Even the digital effects look great, which is high praise coming from a practical effects snob. The editing is well-paced, the acting is great (though it becomes too hammy when the characters get drunk) and the cinematography is pure eye candy, although that might also have something to do with Ruth Bradley's charming appearance.

If you are a fan of a diverting, get-in-get-out flick that knows how to keep its comedy and sci fi-horror elements balanced, I wholeheartedly recommend you watch this film!
