Spy the Lie: Former CIA Officers Teach You How to Detect Deception
by Philip Houston
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant enjoyable read !, 5 Aug. 2012
Picked up this book during a period when I had a lot of time on my hands due to my daughter in hospitalfor a short time (shes fine now).

I found the book a really good read, with excellant 'real world' case study examples as na appraoch to highlighting the methodology.

I recommend this book - especialy if you require to analyse statements as the truth from your Kids,Family,Freinds or Business Partners.

If you work as a Management Consultant this book should be read and part of your war chest.

Only suggestion to the authors - maybe ad some more diagrams, but well done !

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for the newly appointed Manager, 12 Oct. 2011
If you are a newly appointed manager - then this book is a must! I recommend reading from end to end, providing some insight into your road ahead!.

However, if you are a seasoned manager, it is a good mechanism to reinforce core skills with part 5 onwards definitely worth reading.

Overall I found this an enjoyable read, - flowing well from chapter to chapter, providing some golden nuggets of information e.g. 'Think Networks, not hierarchies' (Page 105) & `incomplete understanding leads to a focus on symptoms and not underlying problems' (Page 153).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for all newcomers to Consulting, 13 May 2011
Having worked as an independent consultant quite successfully for several years in Europe - There was an air of scepticism when picking up a book on the art of management consultancy. However by the time I had finished reading this book my view had changed

For a seasoned consultant the book seeks to;
1. Reinforces and reminds of good practice.
2. Introduce concepts, which needed to be formalised in ones head during an engagement.

This book is not for everyone, however if you have been working for a few years or are new to consulting either as an independent or with a consultancy then I would strongly recommend purchase.
