Brilliantly funny parody of a power ballad duet from a West End musical. The Colm Wilkinson voice had me in tucks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and fantastical, 10 Dec 2012
I am not normally a reader of graphic novels, nothing against them, it's just that I have never got into the genre. I found this book by chance whilst browsing through some other titles and found it utterly compelling and historically fascinating. The art and drawings very impressive. A real page turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant production, 10 Dec 2012
This review is from: Love Never Dies [DVD] (DVD)
I had never seen either the Broadway or London production of ALW's Love Never Dies and I am a big fan of the original Phantom and the 25th Anniversary production. So when I heard this DVD was being released I was keen to get my copy. I wasn't disappointed! Much tighter soundtrack and it made a lot more sense seeing the DVD than trying to fathom out what was happening from the cd of the London production. Alright, I've heard discussions that the two leads aren't as strong as in the London show but I was very impressed by the Melbourne leads and the cast in general, lots of verve, high emotion, terrific singing and swelling score.. The imaginative settings and costumes were astounding. An absolute knock-out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Alan Bennett, 10 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was encouraged to buy this originally by an interest in reminding myself how Alan Bennett portrayed his character in A Chip In The Sugar. Once I'd seen that I couldn't wait to see more and watched all the Talking Heads back to back. Wonderfully written and performed by all the actors and actresses involved. Each episode often comic and very often sad but always human. I recommend this box set very highly.

Hedda Gabler (Classic Drama)
Hedda Gabler (Classic Drama)
by Henrik Ibsen
Edition: Audio CD
Price: £8.40

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant production, 10 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I originally bought this cd in order to understand the story as I was auditioning for a part in a local production. It is superb. All the cast are top notch and convey the story of Hedda's great disappointments with her marriage and lot in life. Michael Maloney as her husband is very amusing and you could well understand how his annoying tone and lack of understanding of his wife' frustrations would lead her to do the desperate things she does. For any student of theatre and Ibsen's work this translation is a winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Naughty but so so funny, 9 Aug 2007
Great set of scripts form the writer of Billy Elliot. Cooking with Elvis is very rude, very shocking and very poignant. One minute I was laughing at the absurd situations the characters were in and the next Mam's speech about her disabled husband had me in floods of tears. The plays contain swearing and sexual references. Highly Recommended.

I saw a recent amateur performance in Nottingham recently and it works really well on the stage. Needs brave actors and a singing Elvis impersonator.
