5.0 out of 5 stars Doctor Who might end due to fan stupidity, 22 Jun 2014
One star reviews for a show nobody had seen yet we're blamed for the final demise of Doctor Who. Many mourn what was said to be the greatest series yet. A spokesman for the BBC said that selling DVDS had always been vital to future funding for the show. Sadly a number of fans had given the show 1 star months before broadcast as a result sales to normal human beings who did not get the joke if indeed there was one, were badly effected.
A spokesman for the Doctor Who not appreciated society felt it was their letter to the sun saying it had always been rubbish that finally killed our wonderful doctor.
As a punishment for destroying something most of us loved, these people will be made to watch repeats of Big Brother, And Us loosing World Cup football matches on a loop for the rest of their lives and beyond.
Finishing on a bit of good news Amazon have at last agreed not to let something be reviewed until people have actually seen it, I wish!

5.0 out of 5 stars Do not understand, 8 May 2013
Can someone please explain how so many of the reviewers trashing this item and the BBC got hold of a copy of this product so long before its release! You surly cannot trash a product before you have seen it. If the coffee table book is as good as it looks, then this will be a nice collection to own. If it is a horrible mess then as I have most of the DVDs already and the BBC have made it very very clear a better version of the Tenth Planet IE with more extras is coming out in November then I will not buy this.
I fail to understand how the BBC are ripping anyone off. It is made very clear what you are buying and very clear the one unreleased DVD will get a separate release. There is probably a big market for this amongst buyers who are not big fans but want a memento of this special year.
At the end of the day we are well informed and can decide if we want this or not.
I have given this five stars only to counter all the idiots who have given it one or two before seeing the product and judging it in an informed way. Until it is released or I can see a copy, I have no idea how good this release will be.
Perhaps Amazon should stop reviews until a product like this is released. A lot of people who do not want a complete season just a memento may have been put off this because they have been told it is a rip off when it clearly is not. Is every greatest hits CD a rip off. So called Doctor Who fans must drive the BBC mad. Talk about blighting the hand that feeds us!
Please beware of us Doctor Who fans like me and check this one out when it's released and decide then if it is worth the money or not. The BBC have been very clear what this is so however good or bad it turns out to be it is certainly not a rip off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can we stop this, 1 Feb 2013
I want to know why Amazon are letting these reviews happen and why people find then useful when the item is not yet released. This is a new version and I think most people will want to know if it is enough better than what they already have to make it worth buying again.
Also if you are not a Doctor Who fan or are only a fan of new who then as much as I urge you to check out classic who some of which is quite brilliant please do not be fooled by the odd show off fan that you are going to be watching something worlds better than the new stuff. I have watched this show since the beginning and love it to bits and it just keeps getting better and better. I still think Tom Baker hangs on to the crown of best Doctor ever, although David and Matt have given him a run for his money. This however is very subjective. Everyone has their favourite Doctor
Not all classic who quite works and not all new who quite works but what a fantastic show. Ark is quite a good one, although how good the new version is remains to be seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top class television, 9 Mar 2011
What has made me review this item is more to do with the one star reviwers than the fact that this is brilliant in every way.
The acting is breathtaking both from Matt Smith and the special guests, the writing is well brilliant again, likewise the production values. It is funny, exciting, thoughtful, full of christmas, ingenious and at times very sad. Like all great Doctor Who, despite the tradgedy it is also very uplifting and life affirming. This is television at its very best.
The sad thing is the average punter will glance at this and see it is a little low on stars. They probably wont look further and see that the vast majority of reviews loved it. They wont understand that because its Doctor Who, there are always the small but vocal minority who whilst giving the impression they are fans of the show, will then just rip it to bits. I should be used to this after almost fifty years, it seems like it has never been different, but it still makes me cross. I just don't understand why anyone wants to be so pointlessly destructive about something they claim to love. One reviewer acctually tells people not to watch this!!!! Why would anyone do that? There have been a few slightly dodgy episodes of new who since it returned in 2005 and most of those were better than most of the stuff we usually get on television. Of course all reviews are a matter of opinion. What I love may not be another viewers cup of tea and I understand that. Even so it is impossible to comprehend how anyone could justify giving this episode one star! Even if it is not someone's fave episode it has so much to offer. As a Doctor Who fan since 1963 I understand new who is not written for the fans, but for a much much bigger audiance. It is still very hard to understand why any Doctor Who fan would not love this.
As for Smith he had a hard act to follow and he has done that brilliantly. If others have put you off, please dont let them. If you take their advice not to view this, you will be missing out on a brilliant bit of television. Perhaps you wont agree with me. but at least you will have given it a chance, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I cannot find anything not to love about this story and the extras are pretty good as well. The price of the DVD is worth it just to see the look on the kids faces at the proms concert when monsters come on, or the Doctor himself, still working his magic after nearly fifty years. Uplifting and simply fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant new Manfred album., 1 Dec 2004
This review is from: Manfred Mann - 2006 (Audio CD)
The long awaited new Manfred Mann album featuring Manfred Mann's Earth Band is out at last. The last studio album was Soft Vengeance, enjoyable enough but perhaps a little dull and safe. 2006 is two things. Firstly it is quite a modern album with a fresh and modern style to it. My teanage children like it and can be caught singing along, when nobody is looking. There are three or four songs on the album that with enough airplay would put Manfred Mann back in the charts where he belongs. In contrast to whatI have said so far, this album will also find favour with those who loved the classic albums, like Solar Fire, Roaring Silence, Watch and Nightingales and Bombers, partly because you get the feeling that nobody is playing safe here. There is some great keyboard playing from Manfred including plenty of his trademark moog sound and Mick Rogers sounds great on guitar.Noel McCalla handles much of the vocals with his beautifully soulful voice, whilst there is also the welcome return of Earth Band favorite Chris Thompson, also sounding as good as ever. Many of the tracks are taken from classical themes, such as Mars and Independent Woman. There is a little rap, a choir of monks, and even one of Manfred's jokes! This is a great album, check it out for yourself.Turn up the volume and enjoy.
