5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful prose, beautiful edition., 16 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A beautifully presented (as are all the volumes in this Everyman hb series), well edited collection of some of the funniest fiction to come out of 19th century America.
Comprehensive and with excellent editorial matter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh., 16 Mar 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First of, this isn't an album, it's an ep. Just over twenty minutes.
Not a lot of Philip Glass in evidence, just rather bland, pleasantish, dated instrumentals.
Underwhelming in the extreme.
Why PG chose to put this out on OM I really don't know. I can't imagine it made him much money and it hasn't done his reputation any favours.
To quote Mr Dury, 'What a waste'.

Will Amazon please stop listing things that involve an expensive subscription as free. Having a 'free' trial that you then have to work out how to get out of does not count as a free item.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why bother?, 22 Jun 2013
A poorly written article that says nothing that hasn't been said many times before pretending to be a book.
Not even worth 1p.
Frankly you'd be much better off, and better informed, reading Kraftwerk's Wikipedia entry.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well selected bargain., 7 July 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A sound and extensive collection of Holst's music.
All of the perfences are alt least good and in many cases truly superb (Boult's The Planets & Choral Symphony, Previn's Egdon Heath, Sargent's Beni Mora and so on).
The sound varies, this is a compilation, but is never less than fine, not least due to using a mixture of new remastering and some of the fine remasters that have appeared over the last decade or so.
At the time of writing it's just 15.99.
The six page essay in the (multilingual) booklet is well written and informative and the one-page timeline is handy.
Recommended to all who love English music and who want to hear more than The Planets and St Paul's Suite.

7dayshop Professional High-Speed Secure Digital - SDHC Memory Card - 8GB - Class 10 - Mega Value 3 pack!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality and value., 7 July 2012

Reliable cards with fast read/write speeds.
And 24gb of storage for* 12.99.
The packaging is adequate (mine were in thin plastic holders inside resealable plastic bags, all inside a small jiffy - fine for posting, but as always more secure storage required for daily usage).
A bargain for all but the most speed hungry (i.e. those who require UHS cards) users.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the 4AD guys., 15 May 2012
This review is from: Fortune Cookies (Audio CD)
This group has no connection with the 4AD group with the same name formed by the Young brothers in the 1980s.

Update. The spelling has been corrected and the band's name is now spelt the US way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive early Miles, 21 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Total playing time 676 minutes and fifty seconds.

This set provides a comprehensive collection of Miles' studio work in the formative years prior to John Coltrane joining his band (hence the box's title). There are only a few alternative takes, but pretty much all the masters are here as he progressed from band-member to sideman to band leader.

The sound is rich and full, bearing in mind the age of the recordings and the packaging (9 slim digi packs and a booklet in a hard sleeve) is attractive and sturdy.
