5.0 out of 5 stars Work great (if you know how), 11 Jan 2011
This is a great in-car holder, best thing about it is the fact it can hold almost any phone with or without a case. Other reviewer have mentioned the suction pad not working, they've got a point what it is the suction pad only works one way, either you have it with the hinge thing (that lever arm thing that works the suction pad) facing up or like in the picture facing down, it only works the second way, the first way it comes off with the slightest touch, again make sure you have the hinge thing facing down (like in the picture). The adjustments to the arm and the back of the holder can be annoying but onces it's setup it holds the phone firmly in place. I was worried that the phone could slide down through the arms but you can't make it out looking at the picture, there are two prongs that slide out at the bottom that prevent the phone from sliding down, to be honest the two arms hold the phone firmly in place without this but nice to have that extra bit of security. I traveled all the way from Birmingham to Coventry and back without a problem (about 50 miles total), I totally recommend this product, it's cheap, future proof and works, absolutely happy I brought this.

Kensington LiquidAUX For iPhone And iPod
Kensington LiquidAUX For iPhone And iPod

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, could be better, 6 Jan 2011
product brought and used for iphone 4
The idea behind this product works well, just not executed properly.

Pros
* Remote is a very nice touch
* it charges the phone
* very simple to install and use
* remote itself is very small, it's removable from the strap that it comes with

Cons
* the sound level is no where near as loud as connecting your phone directly with a aux connection
* I found using the strap that connects to the steering wheel gets in the way when driving
* really is annoying the way it's been designed, you cannot use your own USB or aux cable if you wanted to, would of be a lot more flexible and convenient if the charger thing had two connection inputs, one for USB and the other for aux-in. Currently the two wires connected to the charger are not removable which for me is really annoying because the aux wire is too short, something like 10 cm, a extension wire is provided but that's then its too long, again would of been great if you could use your own cables

Two of these problems i've avoided, firstly using the product as normal (connecting the USB cable to the phone but not connecting the aux cable to the stereo). Then using a separate aux cable connect the phone directly to the stereo. This sorts out the sound problem whilst maintaining the ability to use the remote. The other problem with the strap, as the remote is removable I just removed it and stuck it to my steering wheel with velcro, works better this way for me.

Overall a very good product well worth getting despite the drawbacks, would still keep it even if I had the option to return it.

Kicker IK501 iPod Speaker Dock

5.0 out of 5 stars So much better then I expected, 14 Nov 2010
I was kind of reluctant getting these speakers but after a weeks use I'm absolutely glad that I did. For such a small package it's so much louder then I expected, volume goes up to 40 I find 10-20 is loud enough for me but great to know I can get more from them. Can adjust the treble and the bass to suit you and your music, bass is really powerful but not overpowering, again how on earth have kicker's got so much from such a small package. The quality of the sound is amazing, I'm no expect but these sound good. A remote is provided, it provides basic controls, I mostly use it to change volume and skip tracks. Very inconvenient to use the remote to navigate your music library on your iPod/iPhone. It's aggressive looking, not attractive as other speakers but have a quality build about it. They are not portable but are light enough to carry around comfortably.

I brought it for my iPhone 4 and it works perfectly fine with it, I haven't needed to put my phone into airplane mode, a very nice surprise. Another nice surprise is the dock chargers my phone even when listening to music. I honestly can't think of any issues I've found (yet), when receiving a call or text it just stops the music, exactly what you would expect it to do. You got an aux connection so most mp3 players can connect to it, there's another connection but I don't know what that is.

I don't know the difference between these speakers (ik501) and the other ones (ik500) but I got these ones because its the newer model. I think there is only one other speaker dock that matches this one in terms of size, sound and quality is the b&w zeppelin which looks awesome but cost £400. These speakers are a great, I would totally recommend them to anyone, a huge range of events these could entertain from garden parties to house parties or like me just have them in your bedroom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best phone on the market, 4 Nov 2010
Pros
* a huge range of quality and unique apps available, miles ahead of anything provided by any of it's rivals 9/10
* screen is a thing of beauty 9/10
* music player is awesome, nothing on the market is in it's league, for me it is the best thing about the phone, perfect 10/10
* iTunes store very simply to navigate and instantly purchase a huge range of music, films and other stuff 9/10
* iTunes sync makes it a breeze to transfer files as well as keeping everything organised 9/10
* build of the phone is of high quality, really feels and looks like a premium product 9/10
* ideal size a phone should be (for me)
* multitasking and folders are really easy to use and adds great flexibility 8/10
* responsiveness and interface makes it a real pleasure to use 9/10
* camera and hd camcorder produces great results, results you would not have thought possible 8/10
* usability is the cornerstone in all apple products, iPhone 4 does not disappoint in this area, anyone could pick it up and use to it straight away, its just so easy 9/0
* battery life is a huge improvement lasts 24 hrs straight comfortably (heavy usage) and charges fairly quickly 9/10
* Internet and Internet speeds are good 8/10
* ability to use the phone as an ebook reader 7/10
* FaceTime adds another dimension to the way we communicate 6/10
* a huge range of dedicated third-party accessories available

Cons
* antenna issue (not a problem for me as I always keep the phone in a case)
* lack of flash support (not a problem for me as the videos I watch on the Internet work; YouTube, skysports, catch up tv and iplayer)
* expensive
* no removable memory card
* widgets have not been incorporated would add a lot to the interface
* not all apps have been updated to allow multitasking and are not compatible with the high res screen (not sure if this is apple's fault or the developers)
* no fm radio
* issues with Bluetooth
* headphones provided are not up to the standard of the phone
* lack of customisation
* FaceTime only works over wifi (some apps work around this)
* nice if phone had dedicated buttons for the camera/camcorder

Standout selling points for me; apps store, battery life, iTunes store, iTunes sync, screen quality, ebook reader and music player

Drawbacks for me; fm radio, widgets and headphones

Only two serious issues the antenna problem and no flash support. Firstly the antenna issue, it's easily avoided (granted it should of been avoided by apple in the first place) keeping the phone in a case sorts this out, I've always kept my phones in cases so shouldn't be a problem for those who do the same. No flash support, for me this is not a problem but for some I can understand why it would be, a lot of the popular websites videos work (most flash content is advertisements anyway, who'd want to see that). Its well known flash is not supported so its not something someone can complain about after purchasing the phone (by buying the phone you acknowledge this loss). Apple are loosening the rules on the app store so flash is available in one way or the other if it's vital for you (skyfire).

Phone is expensive but if you keep the phone in good condition you'll get most of your money back if you sell it, so over 18 months believe or not the phone will cost considerably less then it's rivals. All iPhones hold onto there value really well, so the overall cost of owning the phone isn't as high as first expected. This is only for pay as you go, personally on contract the phone is way too expensive, I'm not sure how it works when brought on contract but I can't see the value for money this way. When purchasing the phone you don't just get a great phone, you get great services only available on the iOS operating system, providing a unique experience for iPhone owners.

Taking all things into account iPhone 4 (for me) is the best phone on the Market hands down. It's deservedly a five star phone for me but the issue with the antenna (easily avoided) doesn't justify a five star rating hence the four stars.

Update*
Had the phone for about 1/2 a year now and still going strong. The selling points I've listed above are the reason why I would recommend this phone above anything else available at the moment. The app store is going strong, apps are becoming so advance, some of them are huge, FIFA 11 is nearly 1gig in size. Tons of games that are proper games, games you would of expected only available for dedicated portable gaming devices but at the fraction of the cost. Comparing this with the android Market, google limits the size of an app to I think 50 megabits, which is a fraction (5%) of the size of those available on the app store (at the moment), because of this limit manufactures have to create there own app store to really take advantage of there hardware. A couple of criticisms of the app store is if you loss all your apps you cannot re-download them all in one go, you would have to re-download them one by one (for free) which can be very annoying if you have a lot. Another is not having a list of all of the apps you've downloaded, with an android phone there's an area in the android Market and in the settings where you can see all the apps that have been downloaded, in this list it shows how big each app is and other relative information, it's all in one place, very convenient.

Battery life is amazing when comparing with previous smartphone I've owned. Battery life is, for me one of the key areas for a smartphone. I've owned the iPhone 3g, htc desire and the desire hd, when going from owning those phones to this one, the jump in battery performance is huge. I'm a heavy user so battery life is very important for me, here some stats I've just checked;

From Fully charged
* usage - 6hr 15min
* standby - 1 day 12hr
* 23% battery remaining
(wifi and 3G on the entire time and screen brightness 30-40%)

There always room for improvement but I'm more than happy with this. You could further improve on the battery life by disabling wifi and 3G connection when not needed but for me I keep them on for convenience.

In the iTunes store theres plenty to keep most people happy, I love the iTunes U, everything is free here, the amount of educational information available is staggering, something I would recommend others to check out, really is impressive. Again don't see anything that provides this level of service, it's amazing all this is available within a few clicks.

iTunes sync not only keeps all your music organised but also all of the other stuff; ebook, podcast, films and so on. Yes you are completely dependent to iTunes for transferring media but the benefits of this completely out way the negatives. This is my only criticism of the using iTunes to sync media, once you sync with one iTunes that's it, you can only use that iTunes otherwise you would have to erase all the media on the phone to sync with another itunes. The whole transferring media aspect can be a pain if you plan on using multiple computers but if like me you just want to transfer media from your computer to your iPhone and back then it's perfect. There are third party software that allows you to transfer media off your iphone onto another computer without losing your media on your phone. Even when I didn't own an apple product I still used iTunes for my media stuff because it is I believe the best (free) media player/organiser out there, once you know how to use it.

Screen is beautiful, great to see other manufacture going to release phones with screens that are just as good or even better, no matter what we the consumer should benefit. But at the moment the iphone screen is the best, before owning this phone i never thought I would care too much about the screen quality but once you use it, Its like comparing an bluray image to a DVD one, the content is exactly the same but the jump in quality just adds to the experience. The difference is so clear and now very hard to use another phone with a lower quality screen.

All smartphone I think have the ability to be used as an ebook reader, so cannot recommend this phone over others for this but it's another feature that adds to the overall attractiveness of this device. One piece of advise use amazon kindle app as I believe it's better then apple's iBook; books are cheaper, amazon kindle app is also available on other os's so in the future if you decide to change to another platform all you books you've purchased on the kindle app will be still available to you unlike iBook. The kindle app also has some better features like changing the colour of the text, hopefully apple will incorporate something like this for iBook.

I've said it already and i'll say it again the music player on this phone is perfect, amazing. Everything else in the iPhone can be improved one way or another; app store can be improved, battery life can be improved but I can't see how apple can improve the music player, it is perfect and one of the main reasons why I would struggle to leave the iPhone brand, others being the app store and iTunes sync.

Its a lot of money so make sure you really need and want an iphone 4.

2.0 out of 5 stars htc have not learnt, 30 Oct 2010
Its common sense to anyone when releasing a new phone (or any product) first thing you'd expect from the manufacture is to improve on areas that let down the previous model, the main and serious issue that completely let down the original Desire was the battery life (so bad I sold mine), everywhere you looked, all of the different reviewers clearly mentioned the battery life was terrible (they all cant be wrong). HTC obviously thought differently so they decreased the size of the battery whilst increasing the size of the screen, it should be mentioned that they have installed a less power consuming processor but its not a magic processor. The desire HD battery life is even worse than the original desire, I'm shocked on how poor HTC have handle this. For light usage, email, texting, etc (stuff that you can do with most standard phones) its fine but for videos, streaming, camera, heavy usage stuff it drops so quickly you have to think ahead in case it'll die, i'll see if it improves after a couple of charges.

On the positive note hardware wise the phones is great, I don't see anything on the market that's better (maybe the N8 but that's got its own set of problems). The screen is alright but what really would of given this phone that wow factor is if they incorporated a screen similar to the Samsung galaxy s. Personally the screen quality on the original desire is better even though its smaller. I'm gutted with this phone, take the battery life out of the equation and it really is worth owning but unfortunately in the real world battery life is a key area that needs to be right especially with smartphones. In terms of features and the interface that separates it from the original desire is it have a better camera, really is nice to use and the quality is awesome (although its should be said that the N8's is better). Using the Internet is great one area that stands out as an improvement over the original desire which was awesome in the first place. Google market is always growing not in the same league as the app store but catching up. The music player is basically the same but with a few nice touches, I really like the 'connected media' option that allows me to connect to a computer or a PlayStation 3 (i'm not sure if you can do that with an xbox) to stream music, the quality of the music player is awesome (the best I've heard) due to Dolby Mobile and SRS audio, but you do need a set of quality headphones to take full advantage of it, i would say that the interface of the iPhones music player is better. You can connect to a big screen tv to stream videos wirelessly from the phone (the TV have to be DLNA-enabled) really cool feature.

Theirs a lot of small changes that make a nice big difference, I do really like the look of the phone, definitely have a premium feel about it, a great smartphone. Unfortunately these great features come at a cost, if your at home when theirs a charger around then great but if you plan on using the phone as a mobilephone then these feature eat up too much power so you have to turn them off or not use them or go the rest of the day without a phone (great! pay for a awesome phone but then turn off (don't use) most of the unique features that make it an awesome phone so you can get it through the day, joke). Smartphone yes, mobile phone absolutely not, appalling battery life completely wrecks the experience (just does not make sense), if apple can do it with the iPhone 4 and Nokia can do it with the N8 than I don't see why HTC cant do it with the desire HD. By cramming a lot of features into a phone doesn't necessary make it a great phone, vital areas need to be addressed (battery life in this case), Nokia have been proving this for the last few years. Potentially is a five star phone (is if you don't leave the house or carry around a charger or another battery, very uncool). I'll make sure I keep that receipt.

PS if you do decide to get this phone make sure you know what the return policy is, trust me your gonna want to know that information. Play around with the phone and see if it can meet your daily demands if it can great you've got an awesome phone enjoy but if it cant then see if you can return or exchange it, good luck (im confident (unfortunately) that most people will find themselves in the latter scenario). im just writing this review as a warning to highlight the phones limitations, i wish someone had done the same for me when i brought the phone and when i brought the original desire.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sequels are always rubbish (most of the time), 26 Oct 2010
This review is from: Iron Man 2 [DVD] (DVD)
this is such a rubbish film, no storyline, no depths, nothing doing for me. i really liked the first one, one of the best comic based films i've seen (behind the dark knight and begin's) but this is just terrible actually embarrassed that i paid money to watch it. if actions is what you want fair enough get this (action wise its nothing special anyway), the production of this film is more directed for a less intellectual mind (americans and kids) big exposions, robots and Scarlett Johansson in leather (probably worth getting actually), no substances. can compare this with transformers thats how poor it is. with such a good cast how on earth did they get this soooo wrong, you've been warned

5.0 out of 5 stars Works with iPhone 4, 24 Sep 2010
I brought these headphones to replace the ones that came with the iPhone, the functions to control the music player works fine so far. I never use headphones for answering calls so I wouldn't know how these headphones work as a hands free set. They look great and have a quality feel about them but I'll see how they are after a couple of months of use. A couple of reviews have mentioned the thinness of the wire but that's how thin they are with all headphones of this sort. I'm not an expert when it comes to headphones but these sound good, the base is strong but not overpowering. A huge improvement over the iPhones one but are really expensive, will be worth it if they last a long time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Potentially great phone but a major flaw, 7 May 2010
I've owned this phone for about 4 months, some great features and specs. It was regarded as one of the best smartphones when I brought it and still is now. But no matter how good it is it's let down hugely by the terrible battery life, I can not stress enough how poor it is. You will only get about 8 hours max from the battery under moderate use but thats after you disable most of the features, live wallpapers are a no no, constantly oning and offing the wireless and network connection to save battery life, disabling widgets automatically updating and trying to prevent apps running in the background. A constant struggle to save battery life so that it doesn't die is something I cannot be bother with so I've replaced it with the iPhone 4 and could not be happier. Firstly the battery life is awesome on the iPhone, easily lasts a day and a half without a charge whilst the htc desire will struggle to last half a day under the same sort of usage. Both are similar hardware wise; speed, camera quality, responsiveness, typing, internet but the htc desire have widgets, removable sd card, flash support, wifi hotspot, google maps, more customisable and cheaper whereas the iPhone have a better screen, hd recording is better, better music player, app store and iTunes sync. App store is the iPhones trump card the number of quality apps available is huge, the android Market needs to step up. Apps are what make these phones much more than what they, yes a lot of free apps but most are useless on the android Market. The price variation between the two markets is stupid, doodle jump cost 59p on the app store but the same app cost £2.99 on the android Market, why? The iPhone does have the antenna issue but if your like me you'll keep your phone in a case then it's not a problem, that's the only issue I've found. In terms of cost htc desire cost £409 on amazon, if like me you gonna buy a 16g sd card costing £23 and another battery if you wanna use it out and about costing £15, you'll end up spending £450 which is only £50 cheaper than the iPhone 4 16 g model. You'll easily get that money back when it comes to selling the iPhone as it holds onto it's value a lot better. Htc have made a great Smartphone (a 5 star phone) but as I can't get nowhere near to a days usage due to the terrible battery life I'm giving it a 1 star rating, I would not recommend this phone your better of spending that little bit extra and getting the iPhone. Ps I originally gave this phone a 5 star rating, I'm sorry if anyone brought this phone based on my previous (bias) review.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good not perfect, brought for htc desire, 7 May 2010
The case is very good, I like the feel of it, its designed for the nexus one, I've brought it for the HTC desire which in terms of size is the exact same size as the nexus one so don't be put of by the picture if you looking to buy this for the desire, its not perfect for the desire but it fine until something like this is available for it. The screen protector provided is awful for the desire, I can't comment if it fits for the nexus one. I had to cut it to fit the screen but again it'll do the job until something like it is available for the desire. For the price it is very good and no delivery charge which makes up for everything, I'm happy with this purchase.
