4.0 out of 5 stars Human Nature revealed... in part, 21 Oct. 2003
Steven Pinker truly is a great writer. He writes clearly and succinctly, and elucidates his points with witticisms and cartoons, among others. However, the massive bulk of the research he cites, and the thinking he discusses, is purely based on differences between white, middle-class Americans. He offers next-to-no discussion on the differences (if there are any) and effects of different cultures, races, or neighbourhoods.
Still though, a fantastic read, even with its short-comings, and thoroughly recommended to anyone with an interest in how modern empirical scientific methodologies are having an effect on our theories of human nature, and, essentially, truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally someone hits the right groove, 18 Mar. 2001
This album, in a word, in excellent. It's incitive, soulful lyrics and mellow yet groovy guitar licks slide over your body and soul making them pulsate with pleasure. It is an album to chill out to, to groove to and to get funky to (well. some of the tracks anyway). A definite for any of the music lovers who just like good, well engineered music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing chilis that make you want to flamethrow, 21 Nov. 2000
This is the sort of Album you want to wake up beside and grow old with, buy a house settle down, stop going out and lead a sensible life. It is the bom! It has everything. I have really got into the more mellow side of it you don't notice at first with songs such as tearjerker and my friends that glide over you like silk through a greased monkey. Aeroplane is obviously enticing as I am a Bass player and songs like walkabout just enforce the sense that this is one of the best albums EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
