4.0 out of 5 stars Good supernatural romance, 24 April 2009
I read this book after reading and enjoying the Twilight series. I have to agree with the other reveiwer in that I really liked the Character "Ever" more than I liked Bella. I was so gripped by the book that I read it in less than 24 hours and this happens rarely. I did find some of the story familar to a L J Smith book I read a few years ago, but I still really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next in the series

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the effort, 29 July 2007
This review is from: The Merlin Conspiracy (Paperback)
This is a really great book that is told from 2 different perspectives, Nick lives in a world like ours but knows that magic exists and works but is hidden, Roddy lives in a Britain where magic is common place and accepted. The book culminates in a fantastic final showdown where all the strands come together.I really enjoyed this book and feel it is well worth the effort. It might be a bit confusing for young readers but if your child is a confident reader I would recomend it. If this is your first DWJ book I would suggest you follow it up with Howl's Moving Castle, Hexwood or if you love Harry Potter try one of the Chrestomanci books instead such as Charmed Life.
I have been reading D.W.J. since I was a teenager and she will always hold a special place in my heart. Much as I love Harry Potter I find that DWJ's work goes so much further, not just one other world beyond ours but several. The breadth of her imagination astounds me. For all the fans of Harry Potter, he would not exist if people like DWJ had not come 1st.

5.0 out of 5 stars if you liked "The Owl Service" you'll love this, 29 July 2007
This is a wonderful book that I read as a teenager and have re-read many times. It deals with the coming of age of 3 children in rural Wales successfully weaving their transtion into adulthood with Welsh legends. If you enjoyed Alan Garners the Owl Service, I think that you will really enjoy this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book can't wait for more, 25 Mar. 2004
This review is from: Stately Pursuits (Paperback)
I originaly discovered Katie Fforde after buying Highland Fling and reading it in one go. I couldn't wait to read more. Katie Fford writes characters that are both lovable and belivable, they suffer their trials and tribulations just like everyone else. Her heroines are normal they have lumps and bumps and aren't all under the age of 30.Her hero's are human and come with baggage in this case a stately home and a dodgey car.I hope that if she ever sells a novel to Hollywood they won't destroy it like they did with The Beach and Animal Attraction. Stately Pursuits is a wonderfull feel good novel and I heartly recomended it to anyone that like a bit of old fashioned romance with plenty of humour

5.0 out of 5 stars CHARMED IS GREAT, BUT WHERE'S THE DVD, 25 Mar. 2004
Charmed is now into it's 6th season on living TV and there is a lot more merchandise coming onto the market, the books are still proving popular. People are having a field day on ebay.com and .co.uk selling bootlegs of the series. So I think it's about time that it was released on DVD. There are very few series that get this many seasons without a video or dvd release, any DVD chart will show that a large no. of releases in the top 20 are TV series such as Friends, Buffy, Angel, Alias, Dark Angel, ER, 24, even older shows such as Mash and Twin Peaks are now availabe to buy. We have the money please let us spend it.The fact that Charmed is into it's 6th series shows that a lot of people watch it, it's even mentioned in Meg Caboot's book "Boy meets girl". We want Charmed on DVD with extras, we know there're we've seen the behind the scenes specials. So come on reward our loyalty and let us part with our cash

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, absoluteley gripping from the start, 15 Feb. 2002
I read this in one go and loved it. I thought the characters were excellent and I really felt for Morgan living in Bree's shadow.I think that most teenagers can relate to the struggle of becoming your own person and formimg your own beliefs whilst still having to live with your parents. The information about Wicca was good and didn't fall into old sterotypes. If you are a fan of Buffy, Angel, Charmed or Sabrina I 'm sure you'll enjoy this as much as I did. I can't wait for the next one !!!
