5.0 out of 5 stars A 21st Century Titanic, 1 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This really is the first film that genuinely invites comparison to the 1997 masterpiece, Titanic. Whilst it's not quite as impressive 'Gravity' throws you in to space for an utterly compelling 90 minutes and I refuse to believe that anyone finished this film with any breath left in their body. A truly phenomenal, gripping and outstanding piece of cinema.

A fantastic album by an extraordinarily talented singer. She's not getting the recognition she deserves but do yourself a favour and buy the album!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Budget Masterpiece, 14 Dec. 2012
This review is from: Open Water [DVD] (DVD)
The reason so many people dislike this film must be because they are unable to appreciate a film for it's story, it's acting and not for huge explosions, and CGI. This film, which focusses on just two characters, is a budget film that pulls off a ferociously intense hour and a half that keeps your captivated until the very end. People that say it's boring are too used to huge Hollywood films such as Avatar. This is a rare, yet extraordinary piece of film making with convincing acting and a harrowing true story. It's a masterpiece in budget film-making and really is underserving of the flack it's getting for some bizarre reason.

1.0 out of 5 stars No More., 14 Dec. 2012
I will say no more than if you want to watch a James Cameron classic, an epic, a romance, a drama, action, suspense, even 3D, for your own sake, watch Titanic. This film is diabolical, and not a patch on Cameron's earlier sensational masterpiece Titanic, which for the record has stunning 3D, better than Avatar in some parts! A phenomenal flop in cinema.

1.0 out of 5 stars Quite simply, the worst., 12 Nov. 2012
I could have a very strong argument to claim this as the worst film ever made. I studied this as a text for my Film Studies course and it is without doubt one of the most poorly made films of all time. The acting is diabolical with terrible, 2D, unimaginative and emotionless performances from the entire cast, the story is practically non-existant, the CGI is terrible (not that this makes any film good but it should be noted that this film's is terrible)... all the elements that make even an average film are not here, there is absolutely no redeemable elements to, what I would happily label as the single worst film ever made in history. Please, avoid it at all costs. Please, also do NOT interpret this review as a 'so bad it's good' review of the film, because it's not, it's just sickeningly awful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Under-rated!, 3 Nov. 2012
This film didn't do too well at the box office but is easily one of the best films of the year. With great acting all round and some excellent chase sequences this really is a film to catch! The story is an interesting and unique blend with a brilliant reveal and twist at the end, make sure you catch it!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Unsurpassed Masterpiece, 6 Sept. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Titanic is superb. The acting is fantastic, the effects stand to this day, the story is achingly painful. It's become popular to hate on Titanic but the legacy that the film has left behind speaks for itself, still reigning as one of the highest grossing films in history, selling more tickets than almost any other film. Titanic is an unsurpassed masterpiece and whether you love it or hate, there it will remain.

Growing Pains
Growing Pains
by Billie Piper
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly Compelling., 9 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Growing Pains (Hardcover)
Billie might only be 23 but she's packed more into her 23 years than most people do in a lifetime. This is a brutally honest account of how a celebrity lifestyle nearly destroyed her life and how she climbed her way back to the top. Piper holds back for no one as she delves straight in to her life starting with her singing career, being the youngest artist to debut at number one, marrying Chris Evans at 18, collapsing, severe anorexia, and finally turning in to an award winning acclaimed actress. When reading that she spent the entirety of her teenage years living in hotels around the world, receiving horrendous hate mail and dealing with anorexia due to a critic's harsh view, it becomes clear that Billie was deprived of a proper teenage life. No one of any age, let alone at 15/16 should have to go to court over someone threatening to kill her family. This is the story of Britain's girl next-door dealing with more than anyone should ever have to deal with, never-mind at the tender age that she was. She doesn't hesitate to expose the exploitation she was subjected to in what critics are claiming `an honest account of Britain's most popular actress'. After a critic claims Billie Piper is a fat wannabe singer she, not knowing much better at her age, jumps straight to starvation and for over a year eats nothing but water, tissue paper and nuts. What ever your opinions on Billie Piper are at the moment, read this book, and I can guarantee you that you will put it down breathless at the end not being able to believe that she went through all of that and still came out the other end as a dignified, warm woman. An exhilarating, life affirming, compelling, hilarious and at times heartbreaking read. Piper tells her roller coaster life with astonishing honesty and doesn't gloss over anything.
Easily the autobiography of the year.

A Passionate Woman [DVD]
A Passionate Woman [DVD]
Dvd ~ Sue Johnston

5.0 out of 5 stars BBC Drama At It's Very Best., 3 May 2011
This review is from: A Passionate Woman [DVD] (DVD)
Easily the best BBC Drama I've ever seen. Stunning acting, beautiful cinematography and brilliantly produced. Billie Piper puts on a very convincing accent and character with a lot of depth and intensity. A fantastic two parter which was one not to be missed, amazing scenery and sets, very well put together. Five minutes in to it and you are completely gripped, you will be captivated from start to end. This really is the height of drama let alone BBC drama. Billie Piper is as powerful as she always is and doesn't disappoint.
