3.0 out of 5 stars Marillion, but let down by one aweful track!, 18 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I found most of this album very good, what I didn't like was the track "Montreal". Whay a dire track, I just don't get it. I do not care about a travel log song. Bar that a good album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back with an ear blasting epic!, 24 Jun 2011
This review is from: Iconoclast (Limited) (Audio CD)
This album has twists and turns to keep your attention all the way through. Definitely Metal, sprinkled with progressive elements, and some great classical guitar thrown into the equation. Really a heavy monster this one, bounced my speakers all over the place!!! Nice to be able to hear Michael Pinnella's keyboards at last. At an hour and twenty minutes+/- on the double disk version, it flies by. Can these guys get any better?? The limited version which I bought is in a hard cover book form, very nicely done too!! Overall not a bad song on this album at all!! Well done Symphony X!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good album!, 12 July 2009
I can't find much wrong with this latest offering from DT. Systematic Chaos went a little flat and boring in this middle of the album, not so with Black clouds and silver linings. It contains two radio friendly tracks "A right of passage" and "wither". "The best of times" is a very good track. I really like this album much more than SC. I don't know what some fans out there want from DT, this gets very progy in places, so if you don't like DT like this, then this isn't for you. I think some fans get a little too critical, and don't know what they want from these guys, give this album a few listens and then review it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Dream Theater what do you expect??, 3 July 2005
As for the reviewer from Italy, don't a lot of bands get influenced by other bands in Italy too? For a start off, Dream Theater wouldn't be the first to use other bands tricks and styles, it happens a lot in this type of music. But it always seems that not all can ever be satisfied, I don't understand what some DT fans expect, Train of thought was too heavy and too much the same, so they change it again on octavarium and get slated again for it, there's just no pleasing some!!
As it goes for this album, it's well balanced, and no bad songs on it at all, the more you listen the more it draws you in, and it grows more and more on you, the more you listen to it.
I'm very excited with this album, no one instrument overpowers any other, well balance there to.
A very good buy, I would recommend it to anyone who loves Prog/Rock to buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Raw Thrash Metal, 12 Jan 2005
This review is from: St. Anger [CD + DVD] (Audio CD)
Why a lot of people don't get this album is because they have forgotten what Metallica is, and that is a raw Thrash Metal band. The production of St.Anger is done in such a way as to produce a raw sound, which will grate a few listeners used to the more polished sound of Metallica. This album is not like any other Metallica album, and it's not meant to. It's not a "black album" or a "Ride the lightening" or even a "Master of the Puppets", this is a very angry and dark album and it's meant to be like this! But you'll never satisfy all, when the albums "Black", "Load",and "Reload" came out they lost a load of fans because they changed their sound to less thrash and that didn't suite some fans either. So what else is new I'm not surprised no matter what you do you'll get criticized. like other reviewers have said you have to listen to it a lot to get it.
