4.0 out of 5 stars Valuable addition to the coaching professionl, 7 Sept. 2012
This book certainly prompted me to reflect on my role as the coach in a coaching partnership. I agree with the underlying message - challenge is key. As an ICF-certified coach, I see it links strongly to the competencies `direct communication' and `powerful questioning'. My slight concern is in the implementation of it. As the authors highlight there's a distinction between coaching and consultancy and we have to be very careful that the distinction doesn't become blurred. That takes skill and experience to be direct yet not directive.

FACTS model - great! - useful, practical and pragmatic. I would want to be certain that `tension' is clear and the coach was skilled to determine the `right' amount of tension for the client and the specific coaching objectives.

I really enjoyed and appreciated the messages and themes within the book. I'd have liked there to be less content so it would be more easily picked up and utilised as it's definitely a book for coaches to read and reflect on what it means to their own coaching practise and philosophy. It adds to the growing coaching profession. Thanks for writing and sharing.

Loved it! As a practising Exec & Career Coach I have read & studied a lot in the last 6 months on neuroscience particulary Dan Siegel's work. All wonderfully enlightning. However this book does a fabulous job of merging neuroscience fundamentals and meditative practises. Loved the key points at the end of each chapter. It's easy to read too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical, no-nonsense marketing advice for Small Businesses, 31 May 2012
This is a must-have for any start-up small business and as a refresh for those that have been around for a while. It's very clear and 'down-to earth'. Yes there are a number of other books out there which are, in my experience, also very valuable and insightful re marketing. To me & to other small businesses it doesn't really matter about what's marketing, what's sales, what's a brand but rather what that translates to re my own business.

The big plus about this book is it's aimed at small businesses, it's practical and it's very clear. For anyone starting a small business it can be a minefield around Marketing - everyone has a view about what can/can't be done, how it should/shouldn't be done and how much to spend. Dee's book provides honest, straightforward input so you can make your own decisions based on someone's solid experience of being where you are.

I recommend to all my coaching clients as one of the Marketing books to have on their shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'must have' for all those practising Coaching supervision, 13 Jan. 2012
I really liked this book - both as an initial read and also as an ongoing reference book. It provides an overview of the various models (some I hadn't come across before) as well as the different approaches and modes. The practical studies are useful too.
It's not a book that will sit on the shelf - defintely a fabulous reference book for new supervisors and the more experienced ones as a refresher. Well done - it was needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous book, 15 Sept. 2009
I am recommending this book to friends, colleagues and clients (both men & women) as it's valuable to all in organisations. I only wish this book had been out when I was younger as I would have felt less alone as a women in a male dominated environment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read format and loved the perspective, 22 Jun. 2009
As my title states - this was very easy to read AND I really liked the format - it worked well. The story itself is a little 'fairytale' but heh... The left hand side input was very valuable & excellent input.

This is an essential practical, 'down to earth' book for any small business. Really easy to read, accessible, informative and specific.

For me it 'cuts through' all the jargon around Marketing and gives you just what you want to know. As a small business owner, it's one of 4 books I would recomment to people - it sits alongside Get Clients Now by C J Hayden, Attracting Perfect Clients by Hall & Brogniez and The E-myth - Michael Gerber. All great books each giving a different angle on marketing/business building.
