4.0 out of 5 stars Kevin Ayers at his best!, 15 May 2014
This review is from: June 1, 1974 (Audio CD)
Ben is as someone else pointed out 'spot on'. Side 2 (track 5 onwards) is far superior to the efforts on side 1 made by Eno (caterwauling), John Cale (bored, and maybe somewhat pi%%ed off that Ayers had, ahem, been very friendly with his wife the night before - allegedly) and Nico (appalling vocals).
.
Fine backing band including the late Archie Leggat on bass, a giant of a man I knew for a while back in the '80's when he was the beau of my landlady in London, W3. Buy this album if just for Ayers's performance, magical, timeless and dreamlike. 4stars purely because of the quality of side 2. Shame it isn't longer...anybody care to release the full performance?

What a load of old tosh! Built up to sound like some must have tome, it is a mish mash of urban myths and hearsay. You might as well throw your money down the drain, or give it to a scruffy, inebriated 'Big Issue' seller with a mongrel on a piece of string. Utter tripe.

A lovely little gift for anyone with a love of their pets or animals in general. A good size and well crafted, it is well worth the price - some of which goes to charity. Ignore the nay sayers!

From start to finish this is packed with classics. Yeah, so you have them all already, but together on one album? The Joy Division tracks certainly sound as if they've been uber-remastered, somehow they sound a lot fresher, and a subtle reminder of what might have been...

Watched this on TV when it first came out, and I was present at the match shown at the start - Everton - and Spurs gave out silly foam hats with a cockerel that stood up at the front. I still have it.
.
This is a lovely tale of schooldays innocence and friendship, woven around Spurs glory, glory days of the early '60s. Wonderful stuff!

1.0 out of 5 stars Miscast, miserable...miss it., 2 Mar 2013

A truly dreadful film. The casting is embarrassing to anyone even remotely familiar with the story and it's main characters. The 'true story' promised is full of holes, the over the film narrative is a masterclass in Essex 'gangsta' parody and the acting is wooden to the point of comedy. Do not waste your time or your money.
