For anyone who loved Land of Grey and Pink - don't bother with this. Caravan were a brilliant band; they should be wise enough to know this is a quality control failure. I like the cover painting though.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a writer. This is the notebook I use., 29 May 2014

The size is perfect. The paper is thick enough to take ink and highlighters (unlike moleskins, which fine for pencil users). And it feels good to hold and flick through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well that's better than expected!, 14 May 2014

I was a bit unsure about getting a non-Apple product as some of the things I've bought in the past have been less than good. However, I'm delighted with this Veo lead. It feels more robust than the original lead that came with my iPad. And the indicator light works well and is useful. So far I've had no problems with it. Also the supplier - icestation - delivered it super fast.

If you love Britten you'll love this. The packaging is fine, the music is sublime. Everything is here. The recording quality is pretty amazing too.

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy, enjoyable read, 18 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: How to Read Literature (Hardcover)
This book is aimed at general readers. It provides an opinionated account of what makes literature work (or not) and avoids the complexity and insiders guff of more academic works by the same author. Although you should be reasonably 'well-read' you don't have to have read all the classics to understand the points being made. Even if you don't always agree with what is said, the light touch and a strong sense of humour makes it immensely enjoyable. My only whinge is that it is a bit short.

4.0 out of 5 stars Extra track for the Diving Board, 18 Sep 2013

This review is from: 5th Avenue (MP3 Download)
This fits in well with the rest of the album (which is excellent). Not sure why this track is not included in the main release. As a free taster there's no point - you can listen to bits of all the tracks on Amazon or iTunes. 5th Avenue is openly available to everyone on Amazon and not limited just to reward to people who bought the album. I don't get the marketing, but thanks for the track.

2.0 out of 5 stars So flawed, 7 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is frustrating. It has touches of sheer brilliance lurking among some dreadful repetition and clunky passages. The literary innovations, fresh in the context of its production, have long since become mainstream and this book has not aged well. In that sense it is fairly typical of DHL's work.

... if you are taking the Open University Course A150, almost the entire text is included in the course book (Book 2) which you will get, so there is no point in an OU student buying this. If you are not taking that course, and are interested in the synergy between learning our language and how to be creative with it in a variety of contexts, then, and only then, this book is warmly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Book, 26 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Packed with quite interesting information, this little book is brilliant for anyone living in or visiting this fine island city. It fits comfortably in the pocket. if anything i would have liked some colour photographs and more maps, but their lack is in no way a criticism. The author clearly loves Portsmouth. Warmly recommended.
