Looks heavily used, scratched, bumped and dented. Not exactly brand new, I guess I could explain it as, more as if it's seen some heavy use or been sent back due to unforeseen circums

5.0 out of 5 stars 3x excellent quality, 7 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of these went into my EDC, another into my emergency kit, and another I use for testing. These things throw sparks amazingly like any other magnesium rod but the horizontally placed handle makes using it a breeze. The chain is obviously well placed.

It comes with 3 strikers, 3 handled rods and 3 chains made up of 3 separate chain segments about 6 inches long - so 18 inches of chain per rod/striker. I love how you can also scrape the back of the handle off to get magnesium shavings as super-tinder-enhancement.

Value for money is absolutely 50 stars - best item I've purchased in a long time. Combustion is one of the most important C's of survival - it's in everyone's top 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars Monkeyfist alone is enough, 7 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The bracelet itself is actually too large for my wrists and luckily I can still wear it ahead of my watch or the extra beefy fire starter bracelet w/eye knife also by the friendly swede. I clip the monkeyfist onto the carabiner that comes with the pocket survival grenade (friendly swede also) whilst keeping the grenade itself in my pocket (attatched to the clip too, which is on my front-right belt loop due to my being right handed). If you ever need that monkeyfist off you can unclip it in under a second - trust me - if you clobber someone over the skull with that hefty piece of iron you'll at least fracture it. Plus it's discreet - it looks like a little keychain ball - so no one recognises that you could practically kill an attacker or at least vegetate them with it. Good for self defense around schools or whatnot.

Excellent choice for EDC. Das ist funf stern.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sparta would be proud, 7 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This thing is truly bulky, excellent accessory and hopefully I won't ever have to use it. I am tall with a muscular build but my wrists and fingers are - though large-handed - fairly slim. This bracelet takes a while to adjust to but it looks beautiful. People have already commented well on it - as well as the other bracelet with a monkey fist that I'm going to review straight after this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweatshop standard, 7 Dec 2013

Comes smelling like a biological warzone and hastily sewn together from a chinese sweatshop it seems. Either way you can just fix the cheap craftsmanship yourself, then wash it, but because of the low quality it's obviously not worth more stars even if it is cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bulletproof Bargain, 7 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This knife arrived a few days ago and so far I cannot believe the strength for the money. You absolutely cannot flex this 1/4 inch thick (or about 3mm) monstrosity with your hands, it's weighted almost exactly at the foremost brass rivet in the handle, so the center of mass rests directly between your middle and index fingers, and, although it doesn't have jimping on the spine for your thumb, the metal where your thumb rests is reasonably grippy, over the adaquately sized finger guard there is also a miniature choil, you can get your finger in there but I would not recommend it unless you need to do something small as it is not really large enough to safely fit your index finger into, though it does help sharpening this knife. It does come razor sharp and has a lanyard in the handle, the sheath however is disappointing. Although the sheath is to be expected as anything better than this seemingly plastic-lined nylon pocket would've pushed the price up.
In terms of the knife steel I can't say for certain but it seems to be high-carbon, I can strike one hell of a lot of sparks off a magnesium rod using the back of the knife. The knife also comes razor sharp - though I've not had it for long so I can't say anything about edge retention or durability - though for the price that doesn't much matter. The blade itself is 3&3/4 inches long, or 4&1/4 if you include the choil. That's 9.6mm bladelength or 10.8mm with the choil.

So, for £12? It's well-weighted, hefty, sized right for all adult hands and can strike a magnesium rod. You wouldn't find a better chunk of metal if you'd tried.
