5.0 out of 5 stars Best Flight Simulator yet!, 5 Sep 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
An enjoyable game and a big improvement over previous Microsoft Flight Simulator versions. The graphics are excellent with cars, boats and airport vehicles adding a lot more detail to the game. The new in-flight views such as wing view and new aircraft such as the Airbus A321 are good additions as well. I especially enjoy the new missions in the game which contain much more challenges and excitement over the missions in previous versions. The game has also been made easier for new-comers with new tutorials and a Learning Centre enhanced from Flight Simulator 2004.

The issue people are most likely to have with the game is performance. The 2 2.40 GHz processor with 2GB of RAM on my Windows Vista run computer can only just run Flight Simulator at the 'High' settings. I would be cautious with buying the game for much less powerful systems as a lot of features in the game are lost at lower settings - though the game is still playable on many computers with a processor over 1 GHz and a reasonable graphics card if you are willing to turn down the settings. I found that Service Pack 1 further improved performance and there are apparently further updates and a expansion pack on the way.

2.0 out of 5 stars Alright but disappointing, 5 Sep 2007
For a book that is over 250 pages long it lacks unique or detailed information. The Learning Centre section of the book mostly just repeats information of the electronic Learning Centre included with Flight Simulator X. The Missions section is mostly just a basic review of each mission; some tips and details on how to play each mission are included but more would have been helpful. The Appendix section is good as a in-flight check list; but most of the information included could still be found easily elsewhere.

The book is nice, clear and colourful to be useful for those new to Flight Simulator; I would not recommend it to already experienced users. The best use I got out of the book was using it for quick reference while in the middle of a flight; the rest of the time I just used the Learning Centre already included with Flight Simulator X.
