5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Song and Performances, 22 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Beautiful music and excellent vocals. If you close your eyes while listening to the music you can imagine that you're lying next to a gently flowing river. The singing then takes you up into the sky. Truly Air and Water. The performers are excellent. I highly recommend this song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly Adult!, 2 Nov. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Last time I watched this film I was 12 years old and thought it was a good film with great landscapes. Now I'm older I realise it was more of an adult film, originally it was shown on TV in childrens slots. For all that this DVD version is excellent, the image looks good, the antarctic looks suitably bleak and even though the story is a little dated the performances make up for it. John Hurt as a playboy womaniser has to be seen to be believed. The stars of the film are the penguins!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Science Fiction, 30 Sept. 2013

Always enjoyed it on the TV, and this DVD version is excellent. English dialogue is available on the disc. The extras are interesting, the 'Robinson Crusoe on Mars' music video has got to be seen/heard to be believed. All in all worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally Good Introduction, 30 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book turned out to be an unexpectedly great introduction. I already knew a bit of C++ but this book added to my knowledge, specifically relating to using Visual Studio. It doesn't go into great depth but it certainly covers the basics well and provides some useful examples. If you want to dive straight in to C++ this book is a great place to start.

Kolchak - The Night Stalker: Complete Series [DVD]
Kolchak - The Night Stalker: Complete Series [DVD]
Dvd ~ Darren McGavin
Price: £8.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Still great after 38 years!, 30 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Even though so many years have gone by the night stalker is far superior to many sci-fi/supernatural series made today. The special effects may not be great but most of the stories are excellent and a lot of current series could learn from it. The night stalker incorporated not just good stories but action, while current series are all talk. If you want to see a proper fantasy programme you can't go wrong with the night stalker.

The C++ Programming Language
The C++ Programming Language
by Bjarne Stroustrup
Edition: Paperback
Price: £36.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but disjointed, 25 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
There is a lot of great content in this book however the organization and presentation is a little messy. What are relatively advanced concepts are introduced too early in the text. Like the C++ programming language itself a little more thought should have gone into its design and structure. But saying that there is a considerable amount of useful information in the book and as Stroustrup says you can't learn every last detail about a language like C++.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent if dated, 11 Jun. 2013

This review is from: C++ Pocket Reference (Paperback)
As introduction and general backup guide to C++ it is excellent, the only problem is it needs to be updated especially with the new C++11 standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best available guide, 11 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is by far the best guide to the standard library, it goes into far more depth than other books I've read. You can't go wrong with this book, although it is a bit pricey!

C++ All-in-one Desk Reference For Dummies
C++ All-in-one Desk Reference For Dummies
by John Paul Mueller
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars C++ is alright!, 11 Jun. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is alright except it's a bit dated. The software on the disk is not up to scratch. The main text in the book is a good introduction to C++, however the omission of info. about .NET is limiting. MFC is no longer being supplied with the various versions of Visual Studio so methinks a new version of this all-in-one book is required.

Foundation Mathematics for the Physical Sciences
Foundation Mathematics for the Physical Sciences

5.0 out of 5 stars Foundation is the ONE, 6 April 2013

I must say I thought this would be a stuffy university text book but it is probably the best introduction to scientific mathematics you can buy. It includes clear explanations of relevant subjects written in a style that is easy to follow. It does include the usual "it is obvious that" expressions when it may not be THAT obvious. All in all it is an excellent read that should be suitable for anyone, student or layman.
