Levi's Men's Good Sherpa Trucker Denim Long Sleeve Jacket, Blue (Blau 0025), X-Large
Levi's Men's Good Sherpa Trucker Denim Long Sleeve Jacket, Blue (Blau 0025), X-Large

5.0 out of 5 stars Survival of the fittest Jacket, 27 April 2015

I can't speak highly enough of this excellent trucker jacket/range coat.

Denim is reasonable heavy (think 501 jeans, around 14oz), with nice tight yarn and a right hand twill. Good rich indigo dye. Construction is robust. Lining is a thick-pile poly-viscose fleece: much thicker and with a firmer 'loft' than you get on the cheapies, hence much warmer. Sleeves are lined with nylon satin, with polyester filling. Filling is pretty light on the sleeves. Thick fleece is torso only. This works well for a work jacket, as your arms move quite freely.Breast pockets are big enough for a wallet (one of my niggles with the Wrangler equivalent, where they're not). Hand-warmer pockets are well positioned and good size. There is also an internal chest pocket on the left, which is accessed from the lapel side, with no fastening.

Wearing this jacket, I get the feeling it hasn't been 'designed', but has evolved over decades into its current, beautifully functional form. Thank Bob there is something the 'Designers' haven't got their hands on.

4.0 out of 5 stars They shrink 3 sizes in the wash, 23 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Extremely comfortable on first wearing. Unfortunately, they shrink drastically on first wash. Even so, they are so stretchy that they 'kind of' still fit, albeit with a few 'shin ridges' because of the tightness.

The label falls off in the wash. For me, that's a good thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pour the bleach down the sink before listening, 2 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The presentation strikes the right balance between the logical and the intuitive. As you progress in difficulty, the steps are generally small enough to avoid too much stumbling, although there are one or two leaps. The spoken dialogues on the CDs are very clear, and very helpful for practising pronunciation.

However, I do recommend that, prior to listening to the CD, you remove ammunition from any firearms in the house, ensure that you do not have large quantities of paracetamol in the cabinet, and have a friend remove any ropes or blades from your household and agree to check on you later. These precautions are advisable because the grey Middle English voice of the main presenter has such a depressing, bland, monotonous, listless, dripping tap quality that you are likely to entertain suicidal thoughts after a few minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bay rum ++, 6 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Those who contend that baked beans were 'how the West was won' overlook the sole rival for this accolade: bay rum. Darn tootin', when a man rode into town on the frontier, he would get himself a bath, a shave, and a liberal splash of bay rum to render himself more palatable to the more discerning of the less discerning ladies.

Many say cloves. But the clove scent, rendered in no small part by the aromachemical, eugenol, is in fact extracted in this case from pimenta racemosa, the West Indian Bay Tree. Leaves of this sweet, spicy, Caribbean plant are infused in rum and re-distilled, and typically then mixed with other, often proprietory, mixes of spice, to yield a bay rum. Many variations on the theme.

Aubrey's organic ingredients smell pure and high quality, and the touch of vetiver in the mix gives it an earthy sweetness whichwoud have guaranteed success in the frontier town.

2.0 out of 5 stars No detectable marigold content, 26 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This smells strongly of synthetic olfactochemicals which approximate artificial rose and artificial green apple. There is no detectable smell of either marigold (tagetes) or sandalwood.

Straight in the bin.

2.0 out of 5 stars Well matched pair, 21 Mar. 2014

This review is from: Life's a Pitch (Paperback)
Many of the preceding reviews assert that the second half of this book is manifestly inferior to the first half.

I consider that to be grossly unfair to Mr Bayley. The first half of the book is every bit as big a heap of unexpurgated dung as the second.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality, 17 Jan. 2014

Finely woven, with the paisley pattern actually in the weave, not printed on. Long enough to tie in various ways. Light enough to wear as a cravat, or to fold up and keep unobtrusively in a pocket.

I'm very pleased!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a room divider, 24 Jan. 2013

This review is from: Play Pen Room Divider (Toy)
Buyers should note that, unlike the Babyden room dividers advertised elsewhere on Amazon, this seller does not supply the product complete with the described wall brackets. Needless to say, this means you can't use it as a room divider; only as a play pen.

Despite this and various other problems (damaged, apparently used item sold as new), the seller was totally unhelpful in facilitating a return. The line was that I would have to pay postage (considerable - large heavy item ) for return, as well as a 're-stocking fee'. Together, this meant that there was little point in returning the item for a refund: presumably the seller's intention.

In the end I made do, by buying wall brackets from elsewhere. I will say that the product, once completed, is really very good. Well designed, robust, easy to assemble, neat, and stable.

So, full marks to Babyden. Fail for the seller.

My recommendation: buy the same product from one of the various other sellers on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dog is finally off the sofa, 8 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was so pleased with the quality of this item that I ordered a second one for my other dog. The wickerwork is robust and good quality, and the mattress pad is substantial. It feels like it might be a microfibre filling, and has more of a 'down' feel than the usual poly-fibre or foam. Within 1 hour of receipt, the dog was in it in preference to the sofa. This is a strong recommendation.

A kettle doesn't have to do much. Boil water in a reasonable time; pour without dripping. That's about it.
This one does neither.
