The best black and white photos since Ansell Adams. A wonderful collection of images of a fast disappearing and precious world.

A wonderful book beautifully illustrated about these much maligned but endangered animals. A must read before going on safari where these animals may be seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great précis of the great man's life., 22 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a wonderfully precise and illuminating biography of the great man - warts and all. It tells the story of his life from birth to the present day. It also illuminates and describes the other people involved in the struggle for south Africa's independence from white apartheid rule. Recommended to anyone as an introduction to the recent history of South Africa, the ANC, or to anyone visiting SA who wishes to know more before visiting Robben Island, Capetown and Johannesburg.

This review is from: The Places In Between (Paperback)
I learnt more about Afghanistan and the people of the country and their religion, from this book than anything I've read in the newspapers or seen on TV in the last 10 years! I now know the difference between Sunni and Shaia muslims! It was an exciting and heart warming book. Not a travel book in the usual sense of the word. I loved it. I will read more by Rory Stewart.
