5.0 out of 5 stars Scooby Doo - Back in Action, 30 Aug. 2004
Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed just fails to beat the first movie but is still an excellent film.
All the gang at Mystery Inc are back in their home-town: Coolsville, with a new mystery to solve. I'd say that fans of the Scooby-Doo cartoon would enjoy this film more because of the return of old villains such as the 'Black-Knight', 'Evil Clown', 'Candy Floss Monster' and many others. It was entertaining being able to recognise the monsters by their cartoon traits such as 'powers' and personalities.
In terms of action, Scooby Doo 2 is superb. The interaction between the human characters and the computer generated monsters is brilliant. It is impossible to tell that they were put in after the actors had finished the scene by talking to thin-air! The film is full of humour and has an overall good plot.
Altogether, this is a wonderful family film and the DVD is packed with entertaining, comical and interesting special features.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not good either, 20 Aug. 2004
This review is from: The Medallion [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
This was yet another Jackie Chan kung-fu fighting / comedy film. These normally make good watching and are generally good movies. However, 'The Medallion' tried to add magic into the film - which turned the fighting scenes into a bad version of The Matrix and generally ruined the overall plot.
The medallion isn't a terrible film but unless you're a huge Jackie Chan fan, it's not worth spending your money on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good fun but limited, 19 Aug. 2004
This was entertaining for a while but soon the questions started to repeat and Chris Tarrant's voice became extremely annoying. The multiplayer features were impressive and the game is better played with a group of people. For only £5 though, this game is worth getting if you like trivia or are a big fan of the TV show

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent price for 2 very good games, 19 Aug. 2004
Both Theme Hospital and Theme Park World are excellent games. By today's standards, the graphics may be considered a little old but the gameplay makes up for this. Theme Park World has a wonderful online feature where you can submit your theme parks to a virtual world and other users will score your parks. Theme Hospital is extremely entertaining throughout. Many of the illnesses of patient result in comical treatments. One common problem is 'Bloaty Head.' The doctors cure this by blowing up the head and growing a new one!
Overall, for just £9 you can't really go wrong with these games!
NOTE: I had some problems installing Theme Park World on Windows XP

5.0 out of 5 stars Great plot, great humour, GREAT BOOK, 19 Aug. 2004
The 2nd instalment of the 'Diamond Brothers' series by Anthony Horowitz is even better than the first. From the first page, you won't be able to stop laughing. The plot is very cleverly written to provide suspense, action AND humour.
I would recommend this book to anyone!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this!, 19 Aug. 2004
This review is from: DRIV3R (Xbox) (Video Game)
I am not a fan of racing games in general but I remembered playing the original Driver and remembered how it wasn't just driving - there was much more to it. I bought this game mainly because I thought it looked like GTA and assumed it would be better due to all the hype it was getting.
However, the game was a huge disappointment. The shoot-em-up part of the game is dreadful and even in first-person, it is hard to shoot on target. The missions start too easy (e.g. driving along a motoway) and then become virtually impossible as the game progresses. Admittedly, the car handling and detail are good but they are let down by poor overall gameplay.
If you like driving games and you enjoyed Driver 2, you may find this entertaining but otherwise, don't waste your money on it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rare does it again!, 18 Aug. 2004
Rare's highly anticipated debut game for the Xbox was an instant classic!
At the start of the game, you see your girlfriend (Amber) kidnapped by the evil Baron-Von-Ghoul and you (Cooper) need to venture through his spooky mansion and get her back. However, the Baron has many evil 'ghoulies' to stop you succeeding. The colourful graphics of the game are excellent and perfectly suited to the 'scary but comical' environment. These are complimented by a wonderful soundtrack and many sound effects (many imported straight from the N64 classic: Banjo-Kazooie) to build up the atmosphere. While the controls are fairly basic, they are easy to get used to and give a slick fighting experience.
Cooper can perform a variety of fighting moves in order to get through each room and complete the challenges set. All objects in the rooms (from plant pots to grand pianos) can be used to help Cooper beat up the resident ghoulies. The game starts easy but as you progress you can use many comical weapons such as the 'Soda-Can Launcher' and 'Sacred Water Pistol' to name a few. Once completed, you can replay the game to unlock bonus mini-games and find extras you missed the first time.
Innovative gameplay, a great plot and a host of extra features make this a must have game for any Xbox owner.
