3.0 out of 5 stars Three Week Diet, 26 Jun. 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The book is well laid out and easy to follow. There is a shopping list and a snack list.. The daily menus are complete with the recipes and method for making each meal, and includes everything you can eat each day, this takes away the hard work of trying to make up your own meal plan. You can also change the days around to suit yourself if for example you don't like that restricts your planning. Couldn't be easier. No guarantee how much weight you will lose though.

Argon Digital Radio with iPod Dock - High Gloss (discontinued by manufacturer)

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Use Straight From the Box, 19 April 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This replaced an old FM radio in my kitchen and the high gloss black finish looks good and is easy to wipe clean.

I already have a Pure digital in the bedroom, which sounds a bit better but it has two speakers and costs more so you would expect better sound although I prefer the case on the Aves. The Aves sound is okay (it only has one speaker), clear and good enough for the kitchen, the stations don't wander as they did with my old FM radio, so switch on to crackle free music and don't have to retune all the time.

Very simple to set up, turn it on and Hey Presto it auto tunes to the various available DAB stations, which you can make favourites that I found fiddly. It is easy to scroll down the available stations anyway.

All in all a lovely radio and I would recommend it to anyone, especially non techies who want a radio they can use straight from the box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Same Great Standard, 15 Mar. 2013

Maintains the high standards set in the 2008 edition, these are collections you just buy when they are released as they are put together with TLC. No bad tracks with these compilations on the whole.

The mix is roughly 50/50 old and new tracks mixing it between soul and smooth so if you want to sample whats out there or just remember some old classics or are new to smooth jazz this is a great place to start, its where I started with the old Jazz Fm CD's then onto artists, now on to a smooth jazz cruise so be warned can be bad for the wallet.

Soul highlights include Mysa's take on Gil Scott Herons the Bottle that she nails and brings it right up to date, James Day and Heston other goodies.
On the smooth front highlights include George Duke, Jeff Lorber, Eric Darius.
Classics include Esther Phillips classic home is where the hatred is, Ronnie Laws, Regina Belle, EWF, Donald Byrd and Frank McComb.

This first came to my notice via the Soul Togetherness series and the track Put a Lyric on it, which is a great track with a thumping bass and great guitar interplay and was big on the modern dance floors.

The track was enough to make me investigate further and I'm glad I did a well penned album that even manages to breath and new lease of life into Bowies fashion with a super funky beat.

Joey Negro is a house DJ and here he mixes house with soul to good effect.

The sunburst band have two great guitarists in Julian Crampton Bass and Tony Remy rhythm.

All in all a great investment and if you like your soul with a touch of funky house, suggest you buy, Im glad I did. 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Rock Chronicles: A visual history of the world's greatest 250 rock acts, 15 Mar. 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a good book for fans of rock/rhythm and blues bands, if a bit light on blues influence. The trouble inevitably is what to include and who to leave out .... not a good year to exclude the Black Keys. Having said that David Roberts has edited a wide ranging tome covering bands from all over, though the predominance is UK and US. The entries are well presented and really well illustrated with photographic spreads and single or double page biogs per band. This leaves detail short in many instances - there are still a lot of informative gems (like how Steely Dan got their name or comparing the relationship of the Black Crowes Robinson brothers to that of Ray and Dave Davis) but the information content is shy, particularly on recordings. Those who produced it will probably say it is not a reference book but that might condemn it to one read and no need to revisit. My first port of call will always be Martin C Strong's Great Rock Discography which provides biographical information and full history of recordings. In fact that may be the best use for Rock Chronicles .... to complement Strong's tour de force.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked a Treat, 22 Feb. 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
When first ran the programme on my desktop it found so many errors and things slowing the machine down it took a while (less than 10 minutes)to clean up.

My desk top machine had also been playing up while booting up, after the programme run, now boots up no problem and a lot faster than before.

The desk top is the older of my two machines the other being a laptop, which being newer had fewer problems well only in the hundreds!!!

Both machines work better than before and the checks are carried out when the machine is booted up, so after the initial major checks you dont notice any slow down in operation when the checks are being run.

So I would recommend this programme and as you get 3 PC's to use it on can be used by other members of family.

Great effort from Hannah and the taste makers if you like Sharon Jones and the dap kings sound this will be right up your street. Influences of JB and Maceo parker abound on this album.

Even a great little northern track "Im a good woman".

Well worth investigating, if you download from the label you can get better audio quality as well as MP3 and save a couple of pounds.

This man was hugely talented and bound for great things before his untimely death as can be witnessed form this album and even with time still sounds as good as the day it was first sold.

Give this a listen you will not be disappointed.
