Having loved "Lincon Lawyer" and back reading all of Bosch books, I was going to read this one, slowly! However, after the first few pages, I found myself racing through the book!! It is such a fantastic and entralling read! Bosch the detective, is haunted by a case that remains unsolved. Thats until someone owns up to it, as part of a plea bargin. However, things are not what they appear, and poor Bosch has to work out who is telling the truth! Its a great read....!!!Bring on More!!!!Superb!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brethren - Outstanding!, 5 Oct 2006
For all you readers that love historical fiction, Brethern takes your breath away! Robyn Young brings to life each individual character in the book, she writes with such penmanship that leaves you staggered! It paints a graphic historical picture of the Knights Templar, and follows a boy Will Campbell in his fight to become a warrior monk. In the east, you have Baybars, a high master tactician and fighter who will do anything to free his people from the christians.

Its fluent, well researched and an enjoyable read! Cant wait for the follow up

2.0 out of 5 stars KingKong lost it, 4 Oct 2006
This review is from: Cell (Hardcover)
Okay...Cell, what can one say....one more brain cell and I would be an amoeba, but I however did enjoy the book. It started off soooo well, falling planes, and crazy half zombied telecommunications bods running amok...interesting idea, almost plausible. However, King then goes off the mark, and leads us down a road we have trod before. Its a jumbled up version of The Stand. Nothing new there then. Worth the read, as with all Kings books, but leaves the reader worried.....has kingo lost the plotto?

He can do better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ratcatcher, 4 Oct 2006
James Mcgee paints a historical picture of Regent London, saturated with crime, from pick pockets, highway men and spies. From the first chapter he had me hook line and sinker.

You can almost feel the depravity and social conditions that he writes about, the characters are tough, battle axed heros!

Then, he brings into the picture, Hawkwood. A man who is not only a bit of a hero, but a mean-lean fighting machine! All he wants to do,is to fight crime and do his job. However, on investigating a Highway robbery he stumbles into spies, bogus inventors and more trouble....Excellent read! Cant wait for the second novel, Resurrectionist! Hope its as fluent as his first!!

!

3.0 out of 5 stars How thick was this book?, 4 Oct 2006

Swarm is the type of book you do not pack to take on holiday. Its to heavy!

It deals with E.T life forms under the seas, the YRR...yes thats right the YRR. I only read this book, because I was advised it was a fantastic read. The beginning of the novel is hit and miss, I nearly gave up on it all together, as the characters did not blend well, the story line was vague at times, and I was losing my patience, not to mention my eyesight. However, after clawing my way through the chapters, only then did I realise what a great book it was..the pages unfolded and the story came to life! (The author of this book, really should edit a bit more!)

The book then was one of those you could not put down! It paints a vivid and complete picture of what could happen..natural or unnatural disasters. All because of a single celled organism, called the Yrr. Yes guys, a single cell, multifunctional, monster! Its packed with so much research and developed theories, that it might just be possible!

Is it worth the read, yeah. However, its one of those books, that the editor or author has a problem with editing. Just stick with it! Excellent ending and a superb, dynamic middle, shame about the beginning!

Rage

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read..., 4 Oct 2006

This review is from: Rage (Paperback)
Rage ia about a soldier, Jonah Said. Hes not your average run of the mill brass collecting one either. He is trouble. Jonah is sent to the Zone, Kuwait and Iraq boarders. On arrival, trouble starts and continues for him right up to the last chapter. All around him, is corruption, deceit and death, yet somehow he keeps it together. Hes a crap spy, a crap soldier and always manages to get either beaten up, tortured, buried in sand, and stabbed...but hes like a bull dog, he keeps coming back for more.

Its a fast and vivid read. The basic story line, is that everything and anything is for sale, dealing with corruption, death, betrayal. Jonah is pushed from pillar to post to find what he is looking for, which just leads him into more trouble.

The only problem with this book is that it ended! Great read.

Once again, Pratchett has excelled himself, with his new release Wintersmith.

Tiffany, is a trainee witch, who inadvertently dances with Wintersmith, yes, you guessed it, its the season winter. From then on, wintersmith gets a little confused, and falls for the 13 year old witch..sending her snowflakes, ice roses to wooo her! Bless! Things for Tiffany get out of hand, and with the help of the Wee Free Men! (Which, by the way, are wee little blue men..with attitude!) The book itself is an inspiring read, laughter from one page to the next!! Pratchett writes like no other. It is hilarious and funny, with a tag bit of romance and sadness....Buy IT!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read, 22 Sep 2006
For those of you that like orcs,(Not many at the moment!) this book makes you see the other side to their life, the constant battles and fights between different races. Its a well paced out read, a little to long in my opinion, but worth it, as it gives you an insight into the average orcs life!!

Yes, it does ramble on, and the ending could of been better, but overall, its an enjoyable and fantastic insight into the realms of orcs!

The actual story line is about a bunch of angry orcs tracking down stars...yeah sounds weird. They mix with other races along the way....its gory, violent, and full of bad language...but then again.....we are talking about orcs here! My opinion, buy it, sit back and enjoy the ride!! (It would of got 4 stars...but the ending is a bit....should I say far fetched!! HA! see ya!

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
After just buying the X Box360, we started playing this game, with our children......only to find out, that not only was it great graphics, game play and true story line to Star wars....it was HYSTERICAL! You can play different characters within the game, with different attributes...personally I prefer Chewbaccas attack when the Storm troopers Lego arms and legs go flying!

You can build and ride Star Wars vehicals, create your own characters by mis matching heads, legs and arms....collect things through each level, and have a blasting laser session in each story line!! It has something for every family, fun packed and endless customisation of lego characters....Im not a star wars fan or a Lego.....but this combination works well!!

Its sure is one for all the family!! WICKED!! Would be good if they could do LEGO Lord of the Rings trilogy!! I can see smeagle throwing his fish already!!

Dont just take my word for it..Beat a Brick IN!
