This is a beautiful film which shows , and should show , for young people that getting older is not that bad . The performances of all the cast including in minor ones is really good . Dustin Hoffman's direction is excellent and understated and he allows the actors and actresses to really show how good they are .I wouldn't like to say that any of the main performers is better than any other. It seems to compare much more with British films than American films as it is a gentle British style film rather than what seem to happen in American films which are often maudlin and over sentimental .I would recommend anybody who loves good films to see this film .

It was interesting to hear items that have not previously been released and hope that this will be a precurser of release of those items held by various broadcasting companies that have not so far been relased on CD .Paul Campion will have to ammend his book Ferrier Recorded to include these new items

What is so good about this film ,compared to thr BBC one is that it shows Kathleen as a person as well as just a singer . It was good to see my friend Chris Fifield giving such interesting information . It showed Ferrier as a woman as well as just an artist .As someone who was lucky enough to be present at her final performance as a very small boy this film gave insites into her life that have not previously been aired . I do hope to see it on BBC 4 this year at the anniversary of Ferriers death .

As a lover of Kathllen Ferriers rich toned voice it was good to have a copt of her singing Bach's Cantata No.67 on CD as until now it has only been available on a record . Naxos has done a good job in transfering the music from record to CD ..I have not heard the Decca transfer of their complete recordings but if one cannot afford the full Decca set this is a good substitution for getting an item not previously transfered to CD

This is a good concert . I first saw it on UK television many years ago and had looked for it as a region 2 DVD for many years . I decided to get the NTSC version as I prefered to have the concert than not . The playing at times is sublime for all those who love jazz , both vocaly and instrumentaly .

That suich a good version of the Mikado on colour film survived into the present century is remarkable and is well worth watching . The performances show why Gilbert and Sullivan has survived .

This is a very well researched book . It does sometimes repeat itself within chapters but it is a very interesting and informative book . I learnt a great many things and enjoyed reading it. For people interested in the downside of Victorian life it is well worth reading and one gets a lot out of it . I would recommend it to anybody interested in the era .

Wimbledon - The Classic Match: Graf V Novotna [DVD]
Dvd ~ The Wimbledon Video Collection

5.0 out of 5 stars Wimbledon-The Classic Match. Graf v Novotna, 19 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It showed just how much of a fighter Graf was as a tennis player . She , Novotna and other top flight women players,, when men's tennis at Wimbledon was so boring with players ,even in the top class ,relying so much on their serve and nothing else , made lawn tennis seem more of an art than a game . They showed skills which men's tennis appeared to have lost until Federer and Nadal appeared on the scene .

Micheal; Kitchen plays the part very well . The series has transfered very well from wartime . It still amazes me that some ITV bigwig tried to cancel the series . It made us miss a year in FDoyle's wartime adventures .
