I am a massive Classical Music fan and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book and devoured it over a few days. It provided so many useful nuggets of information which I am sure I will return to again and again.

Highly recommended to all that either love the Classical genre or wish to learn more about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALL IN ONE AMAZING DAB/CD RADIO!, 8 Feb 2013

I have recently purchased this DAB/CD radio for home as my wife & I wanted something compact that had all of the main functions. My first impression was that it was a lovely cubed shape, simple, stylish and elegant in design. i plugged it in and really loved the fact that it automatically set itself to the correct date and time using a built in signal/receiver...very impressive! I tried one of my favourite CDs and was amazed at how clear the sound quality was for such a small system with a good range of frequencies and I am extremely fussy when it comes to sound quality being a musician who listens to music all the time, so this ticked the box from the off. Next was the DAB radio. Very easy system and having never used DAB before was pleasantly surprised to find all of the stations listed in alphabetical order, and they all just worked with no interference. What is great is that it lists the show/song that is playing at the time which is great if you want to make a note of something that you like the sound of. All of the other functions were great such as the dimmer switch that has a number of settings and the AUX in socket which is handy if you want to play something off your MP3/Smart phone etc...The multiple alarms are also great providing so much flexibility.

All in all a great gadget for the home and I would certainly recommend to anyone...buy it!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Give this film a go..., 24 Oct 2011

I am always a little nervous when setting out to watch biographical films about great composers but 'Copying Beethoven' was actually a pleasant surprise. Whilst I knew that elements of this movie were fictional it was a really well constructed and conceived piece of work. Ed Harris was a surprising choice for the lead role but played a very commendable Beethoven. He portrayed the inner torment and raw human emotion of the man extremely well. Yes there were a few moments that could be considered by some as being a little 'cringe worthy' but don't let this put you off because actually I felt it made the film a bit more credible. The final performance of the Eroica Symphony was a terrific thing to watch. Although there is probably very little truth here with Beethoven's copyist helping to keep time by conducting infront of him it was a very moving experience and highly effective.

If you love films about great composers you need to watch this. If you love films about Beethoven then you definately need to watch this. Terrific acting, terrific music and a script that puts a lump in your throat.
