5.0 out of 5 stars "Angered by my protests, he plunged my head further into the chilling deluge...", 17 Aug 2013

A chillingly accurate account of a staggering story of child abuse. From the first chapter it had me hooked, and despite its short length, the constant blood-pumping action makes up for that. The quote I gave is just an example of where the author places you right in the centre of the action, and when she finally makes her escape at the end, I for one felt as relieved as she seemed to be.

Very well written and well worth picking up...that is, if you can put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, 21 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As my title suggests, wow! The first time I've put my Kindle down since I started reading this!
Truly a unique tale, with surprises around every corner. The quality of prose is second to none, and this is reflected though the great impact the book has.
Beginning in the courtroom and ending in their own courtroom is a clever linguistic choice, which gives great asymmetry to the story as a whole, and definitely kept me engaged!
The character development is appropriate, and the characters themselves are just as the description suggests. The dread of the main character after the loss of his daughter early on in the book is presented obviously, but thereafter most character utterances and thoughts take you totally by surprise.
I'd happily stroll into a bookstore and buy this for 10-quid or however much as a paperback, but for 99p on my Kindle, it really wasn't a decision that I found hard to make!
Very impressed by this author, who also wrote 'Shadow of the Mosque', which is now soaring up the War/Military charts. This guy clearly knows his stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling!, 21 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An incredible true story, with a chilling backbone. It kept me engaged throughout and there are many points in the book that make you stop, and re-read what you've just read, just when the gruesome undertone cuts through like a knife!
The writer clearly has first hand experience in physical and psychological abuse, and this shines through at a number of moments where the description is shockingly accurate.
And all for 99p? It's a no-brainer. Well worth a download!

5.0 out of 5 stars Right in the heart of the action!, 3 Mar 2012
A fantastic read from start to finish. A full, detailed recounting of events - clearly the writer knows his stuff, as others have said.

The action begins from the off, and the character development is suited for the genre and very accurate to true life. A real page turner, so to speak, and well worth it, especially for 99p!
