The Black Effect (Cold War Book 2)
The Black Effect (Cold War Book 2)
Price: £4.79

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Concept, 2 Jun. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's a great idea with many good action sequences but characters, those that survive, aren't developed enough and the lists, long lists, of guns, tanks, planes etc etc becomes sadly repetitive and boring. It starts to read like a IKEA catalogue for armies and badly breaks up any action sequences. It will certainly appeal to weapons nerds but as a piece of fiction it is damaged.

5.0 out of 5 stars Storm bringer Sails again., 3 May 2016

A cracking read but sadly far too short. Well drawn characters with the right balance of plot and action. M K Hume has done it again. A great addition to historical fiction.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cracking read, 2 May 2016

This period of history has been well covered by many writers of historical fiction but Roland's story brings a fresh approach and though many of the characters are stereotypical it is a very good read.

INVASION USA (Book 1) - The End of Modern Civilization
INVASION USA (Book 1) - The End of Modern Civilization
Price: £2.80

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad read, 25 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I almost gave it 4 stars but it took so so long to get into the action and all the background detail of each main character done a few times was challenging. The characters are well drawn and despite the stereotypes of good oil' USA and nasty Chinese types it was a good read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting take on history, 18 April 2016

This review is from: Meet The New Boss (Kindle Edition)
An interesting read about a different path taken by GB into the soviet sphere of influence. Well written though the style rushes through with nothing really sticking. Rather than a story of people being affected and affecting world events it is a revised history book approach whose style pales a bit after a few chapters. It then becomes an an intellectual exercise rather than a good read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Great, 17 April 2016

Gave up on it. Too like a history text book so sense of story and character lost and nothing to hold the reader unless you enjoy a fake history text book for the sake of it. Disappointed as looked forward to reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rollicking read, 17 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A bit far fetched in plot and it does stretch your credulity that the hero can do everything but leap tall buildings but a good read none the less and worth the download. Perhaps more information of the wider world would help rather than the occasional mention of to those nasty stereotypical Chinese.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ben Kane at his best., 14 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A cracking read that brings the Roman army to life again in all its bloody glory and no so glorious history. Well rounded characters with a plot that will interest you to the end and the next book. Any lover of historical fiction or even adventure fiction will love this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cracking read, 8 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A bit far fetched and though getting a pounding you feel the good ok' US of A will win, in round two but an enjoyable read for all that. Kept me reading to the end which is good compared to some of the fantasy history Ive read of late.

ReUNION: What if the Civil War had never happened?
ReUNION: What if the Civil War had never happened?
Price: £2.15

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting concept., 5 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Have to say it was an enjoyable read, mostly. A fascinating concept and handles reasonably well and held my interest. A few weaknesses. Far too much talking with not enough action. Also when the vernacular kicks in, with say Tolli, it does become comedic so I skipped through this se bits. Sequel? Hopeful
Y with more action on the ground with more description and less chat.
