5.0 out of 5 stars Wow. A truly exceptionally entertaining film!, 17 Jun 2011
This review is from: An Education [DVD] [2009] (DVD)
I'D HIGHLY RECOMMNED THIS! BUY IT NOW! Well, i saw the trailer for this film and thought it sounded good, but when i watched it, my views were a lot stronger! I was absolutely gobsmacked at how much i loved this film and for all the right reasons. For me, the idea of a teenage girl being sweeped off her feet by a man double her age was fantasically cool. I loved how Jenny's life turned upside down when she met David, but it all seemed so perfect! Her life suddenly became exciting and beautiful. Suspense constantly built throughout the film and that made it perfect for me! I was slightly gutted about the heartbreaking ending, but at least Jenny still lived her original, more sensible and sane planned out life! I've got to say, some of my family members were fairly let down with this film because they thought it was long- winded- however i didn't agree with them, but if it's the genre which you like, then i can't fault it. 5* any day!

5.0 out of 5 stars This will bring a tear to your eye., 2 Jan 2011
This review is from: The Notebook (Paperback)
12A Romance/Drama.

This beautiful novel by Nicholas Sparks, which has also been adapted into a best seller film, is one which will easily bring a tear to your eye. I'd certainly recommend that you both read and watched this, it's a truly lovely film that shouldn't be missed.

Ryan Gosling as Noah Calhoun and Rachael McAdams as Allie Hamilton combine together perfectly in this film, the sweetness of it all makes it impossible for you to switch it off or take a blink.

PLOT: A poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences. The movie focuses on an old man reading a story to an old woman in a nursing home. The story he reads follows two young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one evening at a carnival. But they are separated by Allie's parents who dissaprove of Noah's unwealthy family, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie meets and gets engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. Allie, then, with her love for Noah still alive, stops by Noah's 200-year-old home that he restored for her, "to see if he's okay". It is evident that they still have feelings for each other, and Allie has to choose between her fiancé and her first love. (IMBD)

A Walk To Remember
A Walk To Remember

5.0 out of 5 stars Where to start with this one... True heart-warming film with a gentle yet beautiful message to it., 2 Jan 2011
This review is from: A Walk To Remember (Paperback)
PG, Drama/Romance.
This is a film based on a novel by the truly amazing writer, Nicholas Sparks.

It's a story of two teens from North Carolina who unexpectedly fall in love, besides what others may say or feel about their relationship. Landon Carter (Shane West), a popular, typical rebel at school falls in love with Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore), the reverends (Peter Coyote) honest, innocent, sweet daughter. Landon and Jamie have always known each other due to the fact that they went to the same school and yet they never really knew anything about one another- they never associated. In the beginning of the film we are shown Landon's typical behaviour and the consequences of his actions leads to punishments and one of those involved him having to help out at several school events which Jamie was also involved with. As the film progresses Landon is nominated to play one of the leading roles in the school production, however he finds himself incabable to forfil his requests and this results in him asking Jamie for help. Jamie being the sweet soul in which she is, helps Landon, despite the selfish ways in which he had acted towards her previously. They meet up several times throughout the weeks and as time passes Landon finds himself completely and utterly in love with Jamie, forgetting all of his friend's feelings on the matter, Landon just didn't care what anyone else said.Whenever Jamie was in trouble or had a problem Landon was the first one there to help her through it and defend her. This may all sound perfect and lovely, until we find out a heart-breaking secret which Jamie holds... (Don't read the rest of this review if you don't wish to know the ending & if you'd rather watch it yourself). Jamie has leukemia. She reveals this to Landon late on in the film and you can see his heart break then and there. Initially Landon didn't know what to do so he supported Jamie as much as he could and loved her to the infinite limit. Eventually, Landon asks Jamie to marry him, she of course accepts his offer. They marry and spend the perfect summer together before the unfortunate thing happens and Jamie passes away.

I find this film so great because it shows us that anything is possible if you love one another and throughout the film Landon gradually turns into a loving person, which before when he was a rebel, he didn't possess the same qualities which he does at the end.

I recommend both the film and the book of this stunning piece of work, A walk to remember.

Dear John [DVD]

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect teen romance movie!, 2 Jan 2011
This review is from: Dear John [DVD] (DVD)
12A, Romance, Drama, War.
What more could you want from a film. If you like to watch films which make your heart beat increase rapidly due to the utter love shared by two and then how this strong passion is broken, this is the film for you. This film has a superb cast list including Channing Tatum as John Tyree and Amanda Seyfried as Savannah Curtis, who act out Nicholas Sparks's novel- which this film is based on, magnificently.

PLOT: A romantic drama about a soldier who falls for a conservative college student while he's home on leave. While John is on leave in his hometown, he finds Savannah, a college student visiting the town. Although love was unexpected, it doesn't mean they didn't find it. With the knowledge of John having to leave for the army, their love still lives, until his re-signs on due to the 9/11 attack. Troubles invade and their love put on hold. One cannot bear it anymore; can the other? (IMBD)

Quotes:
'Love brought them together will fate tear them apart?'
'Love can transform us in ways we never could have imagined'
'Two weeks together, that's all it took, two weeks for me to fall for you'.

I strongly recommend both the novel and film of Dear John- it really is one not to be missed.

Enchanted [DVD] [2007]
Enchanted [DVD] [2007]

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous entertainment!, 2 Jan 2011
This review is from: Enchanted [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
PG, Comedy/Romance/Family/Fantasy.
This film is a perfect romantic comedy suitable for all ages. It has a great range of tension and heart warming emotions which makes you want to watch it over and over again! Amy Adams as Giselle and James Marsden as Prince Edward, excel theirselves in these acts, they put so much exaggeration into thier actions which i think makes this film even better. Also, Patrick Dempsey as Robert Philip is just one of those actors that we all have a soft-spot for and this film, i'm sure would give him more fans!

PLOT: A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess who is sent to our world by an evil queen. Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world? (IMBD)

I recommed you watch this movie and if/when you do, enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly fabulous!, 12 Dec 2010
This review is from: The Lovely Bones [DVD] (DVD)
This film is absolutely brilliant. I bought it not really knowing what to expect and i was really surprised with the storyline it held. If you're into films which are built with suspense- this is the film for you! I can't stress enough how amazing it really is. Although, i do think it should be a 15 age rating rather than a 12 because it kinda scared me in parts- but that's the only thing which is slighly wrong with it. However, it does state that there are some disturbing scenes in it, so that's fine.
