Excellent map for my requirements as I am heading to this area soon. All the walks are indeed centred on Reeth and will hopefully give many days good walking in a few weeks time. I'll review more when I've tried the walks out.

Men Love Pies, Girls Like Hummus

4.0 out of 5 stars Get your Sunday Brunch, 17 July 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a good colourful recipe book from the chef presenter of Channel Four's Sunday Brunch, formerly BBC2's Something for the Weekend. Not a very large book of recipes but a selection of tasty looking food, tat you would expect from Simon Rimmer, if you have viewed either of the programmes mentioned above. The photographs of the food do make you want to try to recreate the recipes and the instructions given should enable the average cook, to do just that. I look forward to working my way through this new cook book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Uno only, 27 Jun 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is another well built and good looking small portable speaker from XMI. This is more expensive as it has a ceramic driver which is suposed to deliver a better sound. I have the similarly priced XMI Duo mini portable speakers which when connected give a full stereo output, which sounds much better. In conclusion these are good, but if you can afford to carry a slightly larger bag, then the XMI Xmini Max Duo Portable Mini Speakers for iPhone/iPad/iPod/MP3 Player/Laptop - Gun Metal Greyis a better buy, as you could if you wished just use one of these, and the sound is then comparable to the XMI Xmini Uno (or at least it is to my ears!).

Good collection of hits from the1990s and 2000s arranged for piano and vocal, with guitar chords. This is a value series book and has very thin paper so may not be very hard wearing if you are going to use it regularly.
Having said that a good way to get a lots of songs for your money.

The Eagle Unbowed: Poland and the Poles in the Second World War
The Eagle Unbowed: Poland and the Poles in the Second World War
by Halik Kochanski
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive well researched., 18 Jun 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a big book. It runs to some 590 pages, then Appendix, Notes, Bibliography and index covering a further 140 pages. The author Halik Kochanski is a British History academic with a Polish family background. In this book she writes of the fascinating story of the Polish people and how they suffered and later fought back. Kochanski has interviewed a large number of Poles caught up themselves in the events of the Second World War, in addition to researching the key archives and collections in Poland and around the world.
I found it interesting to see the extent of the Polish troops involvement in the push through Europe towards Germany following D Day. Operation Market Garden ( A Bridge Too Far) being one of the key events that had a large Polish contingent fighting alongside the British and US troops. The scope of the book goes beyond the end of war in 1945, and covers the struggles against the Soviet Union to remain independent with the support of the British and Americans. This support ultimately failed and Poland was left as a satellite of the Soviet Union. "The Poles asked themselves, what had the war been all about? Britain had ostensibly gone to war to preserve the Polish state yet was now willing to sit back and see an alien political culture thrust on the country."

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds familiar, 18 Jun 2013

This review is from: Archaeology (Audio CD)
A second CD of songs from the prefab four. This is another close parody of the songs of the Beatles. Songs that seem familiar as you listen to them, trying to compare them to the original songs. Fun lyrics and good tunes. No Eric Idle for this edition though, and the final song on the CD pokes fun at Idle's success with Spamalot, which may have been the reason he is absent. Good fun selection of songs at a reasonable price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Insider information., 18 Jun 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a well written and very informative book. Gill Bennett held the position of Chief Historian to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for over 10 years and so was in a privileged position to see history in the making. The book covers six key moments in British overseas policy making from sending troops into Korea in 1950 through to sending troops to the Faulklands in 1982.
The book starts with an interesting list of who was who in key positions over the 33 years or so covered by the book. Very interesting to read this inside government view of these historic events. Would be interesting to see if whoever took over as the Chief Historian writes a similar book in the future to cover events from the Iraq to date.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and stereo too, 18 May 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
These compact speakers come in a small drawstring bag to store them and the accompanying cables.
Each speaker contains rechargeable batteries which are charged when they speakers are connected to you device using the USB plug. Using both speakers for stereo they need to be connected using the enclosed cables, using either the USB plug or the normal headphone type plug (when you need to use the charged batteries.). Using this cable you have a volume control on the cable, but there is no volume control on the speakers themselves.
Each speaker can be used individually with the cable and plug stored in the base.
The sound quality is very good and gives a great boost to any music played on your phone, laptop, iPad.
Finally if you have or your friends have similar speakers you can link them up to get a bigger sound.

Used this tape to protect herbs from snails and slugs. All went well until it rained, out came the snails, and the tape washed off. Will try again to see if it works better for longer, if not will remove a further star from the review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let them talk you can play yourself, 17 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a good music book with the piano and vocals, and guitar chords. It includes the tracks from Hugh Laurie's best selling album "Let them talk". What is very good about this book is that the arrangements of the classic early blues/jazz songs are the arrangements used for the album, and this is not always the case in this type of book. Playable by a competent pianist, and if you can find someone to sing with you, and a couple of friends with a guitar and bass, you are swinging. Very pleased with this purchase.
