5.0 out of 5 stars The good Slytherin ., 24 Dec. 2008
The bearers of wands
The casters of spells
Their story
once again begins

Woe are we
Oh woe are we
The good wizard
a portriat he shall be

Woe are we
Oh woe are we
An overthrown , a coup d'etat
The dark evil lord
he is back

But have no fear
For our hero and friends
are off to hide
And other companions
gathering their might
For soon they shall behold
a clash of wands

But have no fear
For amongst the enemy , from within
there is a good Slytherin.

4.0 out of 5 stars A test of faith ., 24 Dec. 2008
The bearers of wands
The casters of spells
Their story
Once again begins

Though he became
a nemesis foe
Of little Tomy Riddle
little we know
What of his parents ?
What of his birth ?
What of his summers ?
And what of his snow ?
Read the book
and ye shall know

But of the final chapter
a warning must be given first
For there your faith upon Joanne
will be tested most .

4.0 out of 5 stars Bounty Deathchase ., 21 Dec. 2006
Set in the future where the existence of vampires and monsters is a fact of life . a man hires vampire hunters to save his daughter from a noble vampire who abducted her.

The hunters are , the marcus clan .a team of five siblings , four brothers and one sister, who will do anything , like killing their rivals , to get their bounty. the other hunter is a dhampir , Half man , half vampire . who goes by the name D. and the hunt is on.

My second vampire hunter d novel after volume one . In this volume , hideyuki kikuchi delivers a strong , breathless and chilling tale of hunting ,duels ,romance and horror . unlike the first book . where creating and setting the rules to kikuchi's troubled future , took it's toll on the story line.

The back cover of the book says there are five illustrations by vampire hunter D designer yoshitaka amano. There are six actually.

Be careful if you're giving this book to a minor .the story describes a short incest scene.

What about the film adaptation?

The original story is better and a lot scarier than the film adaptation.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Dhampir adventures., 24 Oct. 2006
A nice Japanese fantasy and horror novel .filled with dark and colorful imagination . set in a future , where the existence of vampires and mutants, is a fact of life .

The story starts with a vampire bitten farm owner, doris , who hires a vampire hunter , to rid her of the curse of becoming one of the undead. This hunter is a dhampir , half man half vampire , who goes by the name D. after that , we meet the vampire who bit doris , a mutant gang for hire and some suspicious villagers . interwined of course with a satisfying dose of duels, horror, and fantasy.

Hideyuki kikuchi's imagination is impressive .the book is filled with brilliant ideas , that an aspiring horror and fantasy writer , could use to write several books .

weather controlling machines, and the vampires using genetic engineering, to wipe off the memory of the cross's effect on vampires, from the human brain, were brilliant .you don't feel like you're reading a novel from 1983 .

it still lacks depth . it's expected though . this is the first volume in a series of seventeen .

eight yoshitaka amano's - character designer of the vampire hunter d films - illustration are included in this book. My favorite is the one in page 207 .the hand.

good for teenagers and anime fans.

Road to Perdition

3.0 out of 5 stars A bumpy road ., 24 Oct. 2006
This review is from: Road to Perdition (Paperback)
A tale of revenge in the gangsters world of the 1930's America .An Irish gang turning against their own hitman - for an unconvincig reason- they fail to kill him ,but manage to kill his wife and one of his tow boys, so the hitman vows revenge ,taking with him his adolescent son , on a bloody road to perdition.
About the story. Max allan Collins wrote in his introduction that he wanted to write the American version of kazou koike's lone wolf and cub, well , he did manage to make it violent , but failed to keep a strong story line . it developed abruptly, and why would a gang try to kill their best hitman , just because the hitman's son saw his father and the boss's son kill another criminal,he's just a little boy .
About the art .Richard Piers Rayner depiction of the 1930's America , and the gunfights scenes , are good, but his unsettling drawing of the main character's faces distanced me from fully enjoying his work .
Did other readers notice how o'sullivan face looked like famous actors from classic films .check out John Garfield , page 124 , panel 3 . James Dean , page 125 , panel 4 . Marlon Brando , page 126 , panel 2 . Kirk Douglas , page 127 , panel 4 , and James Cagney , page 252 , panel 3.

But don't worry .if you liked the film , you'll like the book .
no jude law's character in the book.

if You want a great father and son quest for revenge tale , pick up lone wolf and cub.

4.0 out of 5 stars the phenomenon that is opeth, caught on camera., 3 Nov. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
opeth, the missing link between extreme metal and mainstream rock.the band that managed to combine prog rock and death metal in one form of music.the band that plays in pink floyd timings without losing extreme metal ethics and soul.the band that,to me, managed to write albums of stairway to heaven long tracks, that have similar melodies but replaces plant's wails with death metal growls.like in blackwater park and deliverance.is now avalable on dvd,at last.
it's from a shepherd's bush empire concert in 2003,where they played it in two sets.in the first they played the entire damnation album ,plus the track harvest from thr blackwater park album.
in the second ,they played the heavey songs from deliverance and blackwater park.
there is also a making of deliverance and damnation documentary in this dvd ,where we see the band talking about how they made the albums, their childhood music history, how they met,how they interact with one another, where martin and martin are from-no,not sapin- and steven wilson.
it's a good live dvd ,but not a great one.it focuses mostly on the band, which is not bad.but the lack of longer scenes of the crowds reaction, mosh pits, before and after the concert scenes, behind the scene and questioning the crowd, makes you feel that there is something missing.
but ,for a person who's living far away, and his chances of attending an opth concert are scarse.this is a great purchase.
for fans.you have to own it.
for non fans ,or if you want to convert a pop music fan friend of yours ,or annoy him.this is a great gift.
opeth rules!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars you know the anarchist cookbook, this is the anarchist novel, 3 Nov. 2004
This review is from: Fight Club (Paperback)
The book is about a white-collar employee who realizes that the american dream doesn't come true, for most people ,most of the time, and his violent efforts to wake up from it.
the violent efforts that'll teach you how to make home made bombs from orange juice and soap, how to break locks, how to be an anarchist projectionist, how to beat the consumer life of ours, how to be an anarchist waiter, how to break the "what will people say"norm, how to grow your own farm, how to use rich people to make soap, how to use plumbing to turn shower heads into mortor shells ,make toilet tanks explode and how to be a space monkey.
There are three lines that sum up what this book is all about in page 166.palahniuk writes "we are the middle children of history, raised by television to believe that someday we'll be millionairs and movie stars and rock stars, but we wont, and we're just learning this fact."
p.s. yes , i bought the book because i liked the film.

4.0 out of 5 stars RUMBLE IN NAMEK, 22 Jan. 2004
in the author's akira toriyama introduction ,we read that his works are playful, inovative and humorous, with distinctive art style.and this is exactly what you get from this manga.
i bout it because i saw the anime based on this manga.i don't know much about dragon ball z,they've just started dubbing it to arabic, and i wanted to know more about the manga, and what made the anime an international success.
in this volume, you get to know who'll win the fight between son goku-an alien who looks like humans, but with super powers-,the manga's main hero, and freeza- a humanoid lizard-,the No.1 bady.the fight is on a different planet called namek , where the dragon balls were made.if you have them, you can wish for anything,as silly as BRINGING BACK THE DEAD TO LIFE,as we'll see alot of that in this volume.but it's all written and drawn in an enjoyable way, that wouldn't bother you that much.
the book is read from right to lift as the japanese print.if you open the book from the lift you'll find the warning"you are reading in the wrong direction"with a sketch of goku running to the right page.
the inking changes in the gathering of the warriors, and looks like a black and white copy of a colored page, which disappointed me a little
a fun read.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUCH!!!!!, 21 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Audition [DVD] [2001] (DVD)
the fact that miike ,answered the question of the slow pace of his film,by saying he meant to make it a slow paced film, and he wanted the film to feel like an audition,in the special features of this dvd,and not babble about some artistic reason we wont understan,is what added to the reasons of giving this film a five star.
whatch out for the last scenes,it really hurts.
aoyama ,a forty somthing widower, looking for a new wife.uses an audition with his friend to find her.he findes her ,but she's too good, his friend worrries, and we discover the reason at the end of the film.all wrapt up in a critics approved slow paced story, even the gory scenes are slow ,OUCH!!.!,so ,watch out
