Picked this up while lounging around on a sofa one Sunday afternoon, and four hours later, I'd finished it... clear, elegant, poignant. Only complaint was that it wasn't longer.

This review is from: The Midlife Manual (Hardcover)
Do you feel VERY strongly that children should learn the basic skill of how to tie a tie? Have you recently found yourself the baking plum, damson and greengage crisp from the Nigel Slater book? Are you succumbing to the new Uniqlo merino wool range? Do you spend summer bank holidays making blackberry jam instead of getting wasted at the Notting Hill Carnival? Then this book is for you. Properly funny.

Sikhs in Britain: The Making of a Community

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous, 4 Jan 2007
Powerfully intelligent analysis. The book is academic in tone but still very readable and takes on controversial subjects with rare open-mindedness and courage. Every Sikh in Britain should read it.
